Hidden secrets in zeal

Sent in by RPGfan1 There are a number of hidden secrets in zeal. First you'll notice a few books that open up to reveal fire, water, and wind. To access the secret areas you must open up water first, then wind, then fire and a secret area will open up. This next trick will help you receive a magic tab. In Kajar, Talk to the man in the top right room at the upper right hand side of the table. He'll say his tab keep disappearing. Next, go to Zeal Palace and find a pacing Nu. He'll ask you to scratch his back. When you do, you'll learn the Nu's secret scratch point. Head back to Kajar and go to the test room again. Go up to the Nu with his back to you and begin scratching him. A magic tab will fall out of his mouth.

Heal Lucca's mother's legs

Sent in by John Kingsbury There is a way to heal Lucca's mother's legs. When your whole party is at that campfire in the woods, Marle asks Lucca if there was a time in her life she would ever want to relive etc. Lucca avoids the subject and soon you'll find out why. Later on in the evening you have control of Lucca. Go towards the clearing. There is a timegate in this clearing. Enter it and as you know you'll appear at that fatal moment in Lucca's life. Instead of going onto the balcony and watching this spectacle from above, go actually into the room with the machine. Her mother will express her need to dust this piece of equipment. Her dress gets caught which activates the machine. Young Lucca says she doesn't know how to stop it. As older Lucca approach the machine from the left and press A. It'll say something like "Enter the password." At this time strike L, A, R, A. It'll stop the machine and save Lucca's mother. Now go to Lucca's house in 1000 AD and you'll see her mother walking just fine!

99 power taps

Sent in by Victor Cheung To make all the people's strength become extremely strong: Finish the game, and start a new game+. When the game begins, don't go to the fair but go to the guardian forest and go to the right bottom of the forest. There you can get a power tap. Go out and save and start a new game+ and choose the last saved game. Do the same thing many times and 99 power taps can be obtained.

Get money from you mommy

Sent in by Victor Cheung Talk to your mother twice when the game begins and she will say, "Oh! I almost forget...." and you can get money from her

Get a magic tab from the drawer of a man's house

Sent in by Victor Cheung To get a magic tab from the drawer of a man's house: Firstly you should get the "secret something" The something is um.. a monster's name, um..the monster is the one which appears in the cathedral where you fight with Yakra. The secret something is got if you press A in front of the egg-shaped table in the cathedral and this secret something is a rubbish (no use) but you can exchange it with a man in a house whose drawer is flashing (Flashing means that you can get a tap) but the drawer is locked before you give the secret something to the man.

Change the names of characters

Sent in by Victor Cheung To change the names of characters, just go to the prehistoric period, and go to the left top position of the tents. there you can find another tent. Inside is a ruin(?). And there is a blue monster. Talk to it to change the name of your first member.

Change the name of the plane

Sent in by Victor Cheung To change the name of the plane, you should go to the future and go to the errrr... I've forgotten the name, maybe ???er's dome, and inside is a computer. Pressing A in front of it will change the name of the plane.

Changes of leveling sealed chests

Sent in by Bryan Sweeney Here is the list for Changes of leveling sealed chests Place its at: What it was: What it changes to: Castle in 10000 Red Vest Red Mail in a town Black Vest Black Mail " " Blue Vest Blue Mail " " White Vest White Mail Northern Ruins Nova Armor Moon Armor " " Siren Valkery " " Kali Blade Shiva Edge This is the list in which you can use to find the chests. The town's chests are usually in the Inn or Cafe but some are in the mayor's house. You also may find more than one of any of these items so don't forget that either.

Gur of Reason's Treasures

Sent in by Bryan Sweeney When you come upon the blue pyramid you will find a Nu he will offer you the Safe Helm or The Swallow. You can only choose one. The Safe Helm ups your Defence close to max. where as the Swallow is used by Crono And is not as strong as the Rainbow in which you get from Mechloir After you have the Sun Stone and the Rainbow Shell. So choose the Safe Helm because it is the 2nd most power full Helmet in the game, next to the Ozzie Pants!

The Great Ozzies Fort

Sent in by Bryan Sweeney Ozzie fled to his own fort after Magus was defeated. Ozzie and his evil pals make a strong battle when you fight them all at once but at that time you can get the Ozzie Pants, the most powerful helmet, the Flea Vest, +12 Magic Defence and the Slasher 2, 2nd version of the Slasher. Charm the enemies with Alya in this order Flea, Slasher, and then Ozzie. Otherwise it doesn't work. The only downside to the Ozzie pants is they make you confused no matter what so you may not want to get it even though you get tremendous Defence from it. Also in his fort are the Doom Sickle, the Gloom Cap and Cape. They are all in the same room. Go to the room where Ozzie set the trap with the axe above the treasure box. Go to the wall opposite of Ozzie or where Ozzie was when he was turning the crank. Walk along the wall to find a secret passage with the 3 items in there as well as a Magic Tab. The items all go with Magus except the Magic Tab Which can go to anyone. Click here

Hiden Treasures

Sent in by Bryan Sweeney For another Prism Dress have Alya Charm the Queens hands at the last battle with her in the Black Omean. She will only have a face and two hands out. For another Safe Helm, have her Charm the Lavos Spawn in the Black Omean.

50 tech points

Sent in by Jesse Hicks If you have problems getting all your spells go to 50,000,000 B.C. Go to the hunting range and look everywhere you will find a blue creature with green hair. Every time you beat him you get 50 tech points.

Third Eye accessary

Sent in by Ryan McNally To get the Third Eye accessary, go to the hunting grounds in 65,000,000 B.C. and wait until it rains. While its raining, look around for a Nu and go to him and press the "A button" and he should look around and the rain should stop. You can beat him know matter what level your on, but if its higher its usually doesn't take as long. When he hits you, he always takes you down to 1 HP so don't bother healing yourself. After you beat him he gives you a pack of assorted speed, power, and magic tabs and the Third Eye accessory. I think it is well worth the time to find him since the Third Eye increases dodge ability by 200%!

Open the black chests

Sent in by B. Lieberthal To open the black chests, here's what you do. After you beat Azala in Pre-historic times, use the gate that appears there. You should end up in the Dark Ages. Find the Zeal Palace. In there is a Mammon Machine. Use it to power up your pendant. You can then open the black chests.

Secret rooms in Kajar and Enhasa

Sent in by Ron There are secret rooms in Kajar and Enhasa (cities in the sky) Both rooms are opened the same way, you have to open the magic books in this order, Water, Lightning, then Fire. Both doors are hidden behind the bookcase.

Hidden Demon hit sword

Sent in by Ron In the undersea palace there is a hidden Demon hit sword. Follow the wall around the room just to the southeast of the switch that lets you out of the first area. Also in the Black Omen stage use Ayla's charm tech to get all kinds of things from Nova Armor to megaElixirs, Queen Zeal will give up Prism Helms and Prism Dresses.

Get more silver points

Sent in by Brian Shevitski If you need more silver points, go to the lower part of Leene Square and speak to the man who is emceeing the foot races. Bet on one of the racers then get in front of the line before the race starts. Walk back and forth in front of the racers (except the one you bet on) to slow them down. Then go to the emcee to collect your money.

Hidden items

Sent in by Brian Shevitski Use the charm on Mother Brain and if your lucky you will get blue mail coat, Son of Sun gives you Black mail, Rust Tyrano Throws out the red mail, Yakra XIII drops the white mail and Golem leaves a Magic Tab.

Gold rock

Sent in by Manwe After you lose Crono, go to the mountain where you fought Masa and Mune, and put Frog in the lead of your party. When you find a Free Lancer throwing stones wait a while and Frog will catch the Gold rock and thank the Free Lancer. The gold rock can only be equipped by Frog, and it allows him to do the triple tech, grand train, which gets more powerful if used over and over and over again.

Trading in the chief's hut

Sent in by Paranoid74 When you first go to 65 million BC in the chief's hut, here's what items you can get from him by trading. 3 each of: Petal and Fang = Ruby Gun Petal and Feather = Stone Arm Petal and Horn = Sage Bow Fang and Feather = Ruby Vest Fang and Horn= Flint Edge Feather and Horn = Rock Helm After you fight Magus, here is the new stuff you can get: Petal and Fang = Dream Gun Petal and Feather = Magma Hand Petal and Horn = Dream Bow Fang and Feather = Ruby Vest Fang and Horn= Aeon Blade Feather and Horn = Rock Helm

Gold Stone

Sent in by Adam Matchim To get the Gold Stone, get the frog and bring him to the mountain were he tills the story of how he turned in to the frog and go to the part were the crow is throwing rocks and let it hit you and the frog will catch it but remember that the frog must be leading.

Reset the game

Sent in by Nick Smith At any time in the game hold down L + R + Start and the game will automatically reset.

Keep finding swallow's and safe helm's

Sent in by Nick Smith At 600 AD, go to the big blue tent were you talk to a NU if you use your pendent and break the blue seal, but before you do, use the Game Genie walk through walls code (39BO-EFA4) and walk through the blue tent and keep searching around and in one spot you can keep finding swallow's and in another spot you can keep finding safe helm's. NOTE: This wont work if you brake the blue seal.

Statue of Magus

Sent in by Nick Smith At the one place were you first fight the Chancler, there is a room with three beams of light coming from the ceiling in that room search the right wall and you should appear in another room were there is a statue of Magus.

How to get Magus

Sent in by Derek Foster You get him in 12000 B.C. He tells you his real name and his origin. You can choose to fight him or not fight him. I think you have to have Frog on your team to get him so take him along. Don't fight Magus and for no good reason, Magus joins your team. If you don't have Frog, and you fight Magus all three of the other characters fight him. If you have Frog then Frog fights Magus alone. If you fight and defeat Magus you get a new ending. If you don't you get him on your team.

Rainbow Sword

Sent in by Derek Foster This is how to get the Rainbow Sword. If you have the Rainbow Shell and the Sun Stone and you have already killed Yakra in Guardia castle in 1000 A.D. you get the Rainbow Sword from Melchior.

Rainbow Shell

Sent in by Derek Foster This is how to get the Rainbow Shell. Okay, you can only do this once you've brought Crono back from the dead. Go to the island that has the northern ruins in 600 A.D. Go into the cafe and talk to Toma. You'll know who Toma is because he wears a Red Vest and a White Bandana. Go and talk to him. He'll tell you that he has a lead on the Rainbow Shell. Then he asks you to hold his soda. He tells you if he doesn't make it back, then pour the soda pop on his grave stone. Now go to the year 1000 A.D. but stay on the same island. Go to Toma's grave. It looks like a little white thing on the far left side of the island. Once you get to his grave, you pour the soda pop on Toma's grave and his ghost comes to talk to you. Toma's ghost tells you that in 600 A.D. there is an island to the north west of the one you're on and it's called the Giant's Claw. Go to 600 A.D. and go to the cave. Once you're inside the cave, you realize that it's actually the palace of Azala and the reptiles from 65,000,000 B.C. You'll eventually find the Rainbow Shell. But you will have to beat a T-rex. Once you do, you will find the Rainbow Shell in the back room. You go to Guardia castle in 600 A.D. and you ask the king to hold the Rainbow Shell as a family heir loom. Go to Guardia castle in the year 1000 A.D. Go all around the castle to find the court room. You find out that the king is on trial. Make sure you have Marle on your team when you go to the castle. You'll know when you find the court room because two guards are by the door. Talk to the guards and Marle demands to go inside. Marle breaks into the court room. The chancellor is saying that the king Guardia the 33rd, is has sold a family heir loom. The heir loom is the Rainbow Shell. The king is being framed. The Chancellor is the prosecutor. He has a witness who says that the king sold him the Rainbow Shell to him. The witness was payed to lie for the chancellor. The king honestly doesn't know about the Rainbow Shell and has never heard of it. Marle breaks in and gets thrown out. Go to the basement in the castle and find the Rainbow Shell. Once you do you get a shard of the Rainbow Shell. Go to the doors of the court room again and Talk to the guards. Marle demands to go in again but the guards refuse. Marle finally thinks of another way to get in. She breaks in through the back window of the court room and your other team mates come in. Marle shows the court the Rainbow Shard. The king is innocent and the chancellor turns into Yakra the 21st or something. You beat him and go back to the Rainbow Shell. Melchior comes in and gives you a few things. He tells you he can give you 3 Prizm Helmets that raise your magic defense. Or he can give you a Prizm Dress that can only be equipped by a girl. The Prizm Dress is way better than the Hekmats, but the Helmets divide the power of the Prizm Dress among 3 of your characters. The Prizm Dress can only be equipped by a girl but the Prizm Helmets can be equipped by everyone. The Prizm Dress is 3 times as powerful as a Prizm Helmet. But the Helmets divide the power among 3 of you. Choose what you think is best, but I usually choose the Prizm Dress and equip it on Marle. Anyway, if you have the Sun Stone, Melchior makes the most powerful weapon for Crono.

Moon Stone

Sent in by Derek Foster This is how to get the Moon Stone. Okay, there are several tasks that should be done before you defeat Lavos. It's right after you bring Crono back from the dead. Your save should say, "The Fated Hour." One of the tasks is to get something called the Moon Stone. You go to 2300 A.D. and go to a small island that has a cave. The cave is called "The Sun Keep." You have to defeat a giant fire monster before you do. The way to beat the monster is to hit one of the five flames around him. There is a particular flame that is weak. Hit that one and get good damage on him. But he may shuffle them so it won't be the same flame. Anyway, I'd equip a Fire Mail to absorb the flame so he can't kill you. Anyway if you kill him you get the Moon Stone. You go to the "Sun Keep" in the year 65,000,000 B.C. and leave the Moon Stone. If you go to the year 1000 A.D. or the year 2300 A.D. you find out the Moon Stone's missing. Go to the year 1000 A.D. and the Mayor's House will have stars shooting out the top of it. The mayor has the Moon Stone but won't tell you that he does. Go to the Snail Stop in 1000 A.D. and the man behind the counter will ask you if you want to buy some Jerky for 9900 GP. Buy the Jerky and go to the Mayor's Manor in 600 A.D. There will be a lady who wants Jerky to cook. Talk to her and she sees that you have Jerky and you get three options. 1) You sell the Jerky to her. 2) You give it to her. 3) You don't sell it or give it to her. You pick number two and give it to her. She says she'll make all her descendents honest and sharing. Go back to 1000 A.D. and go to the Mayor's Manor and talk to the Mayor. Not only does his family like him, but he's so sharing, he gives the Moon Stone to you for free. Now go to the "Sun Keep" in 1000 A.D. and leave the Moon Stone again. Get Lucca on your team and go to the "Sun Keep" in 2300 A.D. Make sure you have Lucca on your team when you go to get it. She has to be with you. The Moon Stone has now become the Sun Stone. Take the Sun Stone and Lucca goes to her house. She makes a weapon called the Wonder Shot out of the Moon Stone and you get an accessory called Sun Shades. Still think the Jerky was a rip off? I don't think so. Considering you got the Sun Shades and, oh did I mention that the Wonder Shot that Lucca gets is the most powerful weapon she can get? That's good for 9900 GP.

Little ending change

Sent in by David Souza If you beat the end of the game when you have won a million cats from the millenia fair, Chrono's mom will chase a horde of kittens instead of just one.

Secret tunnel

Sent in by Robin St. Charles When you are going to fight Ozzie, Flea and Slash before you go through that door go to the wall from the door and hit down then a secret tunnel will show get all the 3 treasure chests and equipped them on Magus because if you do he will be almost unstoppable.

Swallow Sword

Sent in by Derek Foster Here's what you do. Go to 1000 A.D. and then go to the continent that Melchior lives on, then go to the forest ruins. It looks like a blue pyramid. You must have the pendant recharged from 12000 B.C. to do this. You go up to the pyramid and push the "A button." A Nu will appear and he will tell you that in one of the chests is an armor that will increase your defense, and in the other is a powerful weapon. The swallow is the weapon. You can get better armor. Even though the swallow can only be used by Crono, it raises your speed by 3. It's a blue sword and it looks cool.

Revive the forest

Sent in by Derek Foster The way to revive the forest: Remember the continent that Crono lives on? The one right under it (The one connected by Zenan bridge) has a place where there's no forest. It looks like a big desert. In 600 A.D. a lady named Fiona lives in that desert. By the time you bring Crono back with the Chrono trigger, then the man at the end of time tells you of several different tasks that need to be done. One of them is a task to bring a forest back to life. The way you do that is, the first time you go back to the year 12000 A.D. go to every palace and talk to everyone in each palace in the kingdom of Zeal. Eventually you will find a person telling you that Queen Zeal told her to burn a magical plant. She'll ask you if she should burn it, or plant it. Tell her to plant it. Then after you get past the part where you get Crono back, then go to Fiona's house and there will be a big swirling hole in the sand a little bit away from her house. Talk to Fiona and she'll tell you that she is trying to bring a forest back to life with a special seed. But there are monsters eating everything. You go into the swirling hole and beat all the monsters including the boss. Water attacks including ice make the monsters lose their defence. After you beat the monsters bring Robo to Fiona's house and leave him there and go to 1000 A.D. Get Robo back and they camp out that night. Lucca wakes up and she gets the chance to go back in time and stop something awful that happened in her life. Lucca's mother is a cripple and the reason that she's a cripple is because one day she decided to clean a machine that Lucca's father built and her skirt got stuck in the machine. She got pulled in and then she got her legs broken or something. Lucca goes back in time and you may or may not change this. I would suggest saving your game before you do this. Got o the machine while Lucca's mother is being pulled in and go to the little shining star on the machine and remember that the password is, L button, A button, R button, A button. An easy way to remember this is remember Lucca's mother's name, LARA. It's kind of confusing to do but, you should do it eventually. Remember to save before you do. Robo will give you a special item called, Greendream. I'm not sure what it does but it took Robo 400 years to make.

Black boxes

Sent in by Anthony Sexton I'm sure you've all seen the black boxes sealed by a power in 600ad & 1,000ad. You open these with the pendent, after it is charged. Now, if you go to 600 and open the boxes, they won't be there in 1000. But, if you go to the boxes, open it, and don't take out the contents, it will be there in 1000, charged up. For example: In hero's grave- siren to valkereye, shiva blade to kali blade, and there is a armor there are others. (After you get one powered up, you can go back to 600 and get weaker version)

Chest tip

Sent in by Bradley Willams At the time when you are repairing the ruins. You should.. Kill everything and leave. Don't open any chest then save it. try to open a magic Chest. It will ask if you want to open it. Say no (600 A.D.) Go to 1000 A.d. any then open the same chest. The Object inside will be stronger. Nova up to Moon Armor Siren up to Valkery. It also works in other places, like the Mayor's house, etc.

Try to beat Lavos with just one person

Sent in by Jack Weaver This trick will allow you to fight with anyone one on one versus Lavos. First, decide who you want to have fight lavos. If you want Crono to, just start a New Game +. If you want anyone else, enter a Game Genie code that changes characters which you can find at the Game Genie Code Creators Club. Now start a New Game +. Play the game normally until you get to Lucca's show. Allow Lucca to teleport you to the other pod. This will disband you from Marle. When you land on the right pod, press up and A. You will be transported to Lavos one on one! There is no different ending because of this, but it is fun to try to beat Lavos with just one person.

Warp to Lavos

When you've beaten the game once you'll have the option to play "New Game +". You'll get to choose one of your saved games and you'll start with all the money, items and experience that the saved game had. Now go to the Millenial Fair, to the place where Lucca is showing her new invention. Lucca tells you to stand on the left platform, instead go to the glimmering thing on the right platform and press A. You'll get instantly teleported to the fight with the last boss.

Get the Black Stone or magic tab

First, you must go to the second village on the floating island in 12000 B.C. Walk around and when you see books on tables, try to open them. There are three books you can open. When you open them, you will see either wind, lightening and fire. You must open them and let them open in this particular order: WATER, LIGHTENING AND FIRE. When you do so, you will meet the assistant of the guru of knowledge and he will give you the Black Stone. You can also do this trick in the first village of the floating island, to get a magic tab.

Get ethers

To get ethers, you can beat that brown bunny-like thing on the mountain in 600 AD near Truce. To get the Mystic to lower his prices, you need to beat Magus (the first time) and Ozzie (after you get the Epoch, fly to the place Northeast of Magus' place). Go back to the Mystic town, and they are at peace and their prices are lower.

Bosses and Enemies

Lavos has several defenses that must be eliminated in a certain order, so your key to victory is knowing what to attack and when to do it. Always keep your party healthy with spells and elixirs. Break Lavos's Revive spell and speed up your progress in the battle by destroying his arms first. The highest priority throughout the battle is keeping your party healthy with Cure 2 spells. After Lavos is cut down to the core, concentrate your party's attacks on the humanoid body first. After the humanoid center of the Lavos Core is destroyed, target the tough floating pod on the right. Depending on who is in your party will and when you defeat Lavos, you could see one of twelve different endings.
Sent in by Master To beat Lavos easily, just crash Epoch, which will kill the shell. Then put Crono, Ayla, and Lucca on your team. Use Luminaire and Blaze kick on the robot. When fighting Lavos Core, Triple Kick the left bit, then Luminaire and Blaze Kick the right Lavos Bit. If your really strong, you can defeat Lavos before he can be revived.
Sent in by Kyle To beat Lavos with out even getting hit, use Crono, Lucca, and Ayla when they're on level 99. Use triple kick on the far left guy, then use Luminaire to knock out the middle Lavos. Now, just Blaze Kick the last Lavos bit and Luminaire him. He'll be dead in no time!!
Sent in by Victor Cheung To fight against Son of Sun easier, use "black hole" of Magus and the fire which are not the one to be attacked will be pulled away by the "black hole". "black hole" can only pull away 2 of the fire. But this has become the most favorable thing as there will only be three fire balls, and each character can attack one of the fire, i.e., ONE OF THE CHARACTERS MUST BE ABLE TO ATTACK THE ONE WHICH HAS TO BE ATTACKED.
Sent in by Seigfrid@aol.com The entry form is like this: Name: (enemy name) Preferred Characters: (original names are used. If this doesn't appear, you have no choice who to fight the boss with. When I say Anubis, I mean the Secret Character, although that isn't his real name. I'm keeping it secret for those who haven't found him.) Weaknesses: (If the boss is weak against anything, it appears here. Also shows : Strengths against an element). Strategy: (How to kill the boss), Name: Yakara Weaknesses: None Strategy: Have Crono and Frog use X-Cut while Lucca uses Flame Toss. If one of your characters is low on HP, have Lucca use Tonics on him or her, then resume with Flame Toss. Yakara has about 1000 HP. Name: Dragon Tank Weaknesses: Head is shielded from Fire and Water attacks. Strategy: First, have Crono kill the head with normal attacks. Lucca can shoot it or heal Crono with Tonics. After the head dies, have Crono hit the wheel and body with his Slash attack while Lucca shoots the Wheel or uses Flame Toss and keeps the party's HP up. Name: Guardian Bit Weaknesses: None, strong against Fire. Strategy: First, kill the small Bits on the sides. If you attack the main enemy while these are alive, it will counter-attack with either Delta Attack, which does about 50 points of damage to everyone in your party, or AmpliFire, which does about 80 points to one person. After the bits are dead, the Guardian will count down from five before reviving them. Attack it with your weapons. When the bits come back, repeat the process. Name: Krawlie Weaknesses: None Strategy: Use your most powerful techs on Krawlie. I cannot give you specifics, because there are many different times at which you can fight him. He doesn't have much HP, though, so keep up the pressure and he shouldn't live long. Name: R Series Preferred Characters: Lucca and Crono Weaknesses: None Strategy: Have Lucca and Crono use their Fire Whirl combo on the center robot of the first line twice. Two whirls kill the line (Since Fire Whirl kills surrounding enemies). After the first line dies, recover your characters completely and repeat the process on the second line. Name: Heckran Preferred Characters: Crono, Lucca, and Marle Weaknesses: Magic. Strong against all forms of physical attack. Strategy: Have Lucca and Marle use their Antipode combo on Heckran while Crono uses Lightning. When he says Go ahead! Try and attack, DON'T attack. Use Crono's and Marle's Aura Whirl combo to recover the party's HP while Lucca uses Ethers to recover the party's MP. When you get a a breif Counterattack break, continue using Antipode and Lightning. It shouldn't take long to dispose of Heckran. Name: Zombor Preferred Characters: Crono, Lucca, and Marle Weaknesses: Bottom Half- fire; Top Half- ice. Strategy: Dispose of the bottom quickly with Lucca's Fire spell or (If you have it) Lucca and Crono's Fire Sword dual tech. When Zombor uses his RDoom Doom Doom DoomS attack, recover as quickly as possible with Aura Whirl. After the bottom dies, use Ice on the top half until it dies too. Name: Masa and Une Preferred Characters: Crono, Marle, Robo Weaknesses: None Strategy: Concentrate your attacks on Masa, the one on the right. Have Marle and Robo use their Ice Tackle dual tech while Crono uses Spincut or keeps the party's health up. He shouldn't take too long. Name: MasaMune Preferred Characters: Crono, Marle, Robo Weaknesses: None Strategy: Have Robo and Marle use Ice Tackle. Crono should use Spincut or recover the party with Mid Tonics. If you get the message, Restoring Tornado Energy's, have Crono use his Slash attack to negate it. Repeat this process until MasaMune dies. Name: Nizbel Preferred Characters: Crono, Alya, Robo Weaknesses: Thunder Strategy: Have Crono use Lightning to drop Nizbel's defense, then have Robo and Alya do strong Dual Techs. Have Crono use Spincut. Keep attacking until Nizbel discharges the energy. Then, have Robo and Alya heal the party with Cure Beam and Kiss. When the party is completely recovered, repeat the process. Name: Slash Preferred Characters: Crono, Frog, Marle Weaknesses: None Strategy: Have Marle cast Haste on everyone while Crono and Frog use X-Cut. This strategy works both times you fight him. Name: Flea Preferred Characters: Crono, Frog, Marle Weaknesses: None Strategy: Use a Barrier on Marle. Have Crono and Frog use X-Cut while Marle uses Ice. Carry a lot of Heals in case Flea uses his/her Waltz of the Wind. Ignore poison attacks and concentrate on keeping all your characters controllable. Name: Ozzie Preferred Characters: Any Weaknesses: None Strategy: Don't hit Ozzie himself. Movethe cursor and attack the handles. When you hit the fourth, a hole will appear under Ozzie. Name: Magus Preferred Characters: Crono, Frog, Robo Weaknesses: Varies Strategy: This is not an easy battle. Magus' weaknesses will change constantly. Watch what he is weak against. If he is weak against Water, use Frog and Crono's Sword Steam combo. If he is weak against Shadow, use Crono and Robo's Rocket Roll Combo. Otherwise, keep your HP up and have Frog attack with the Masamune. When you get the message RMagus risks casting a spell, S raise your HP to max and start using Crono, Frog, and Robo's Triple Raid Delta attack. This should be able to inflict heavy damage on him. Do that until he uses DarkMatter, his strongest attack. After that, heal and repeat the process. For the record, he has between 6,500 and 6,750 HP. Name: Nizbel II Preferred Characters: Crono, Alya, and Lucca Weakness: Thunder Strategy: First, have Crono use Lightning on Nizbel. Then, have Alya use her most powerful tech and Lucca throw Napalm at Nizbel. When Crono recovers, have him and Alya use their Falcon Cut combo, and Lucca throw more Napalm. Repeat this process until Nizbel II discharges his stored energy. After that, Recover your HP and repeat the process. Name: Azala and Black Tyrano Preferred Characters: Crono, Alya, Lucca Weaknesses: Azala- Thunder, Black Tyrano- None Strategy: You should have all three characters equipped with Ruby Vests for this battle. First, go after Azala. Use Crono's Lightning while Alya and Lucca use their Flame Kick combo. Keep your HP and MP high with Mid Ethers and Full Tonics. After Azala buys the farm, Wait until you see the message Removes Def., Is storing power. Then a countdown from Five will start. Use Crono and Alya's Falcon Hit on the Tyrano while Lucca uses Mid and Full Tonics to max out your party's HP. If you manage to get your party's HP to max before the Tyrano has counted down, have Lucca throw Napalm. When the Tyrano reaches 0, he uses a powerful Fire attack on your whole group (That is why you should have Ruby Vests equipped). Recover your HP quickly, because the Tyrano will grab a character with it. Use tongue and chomp him or her to regain some of it's HP. Then it will start counting down again. Repeat the proccess until the Tyrano dies. It will take quite a bit, because the Tyrano and Azala have over 10,000 HP together. Name: Golem Preferred Characters: Crono, Robo, Lucca Weaknesses: None Strategy: Lucca and Robo should use their Fire Tackle dual tech while Crono uses Full Tonics on whomever the Golem uses Iorn Orb on. This is important, because it will use a Iorn Orb/Energy Blast combo that is almost always successful at killing your characters. Everyone should still have their Ruby Vests because the Golem will counterattack with a weak version of Fire 2 (It copies whatever you use against it). Name: Dalton Preferred Characters: Crono, Alya, and Marle Weaknesses: None Strategy: Have Crono and Alya constantly use their Falcon Cut combo while Marle keeps everyone's HP up. He acts tough, but he's really a marshmallow, and won't take that kind of punishment for long. Name: GolemTwins Preferred Characters: Crono, Lucca, Robo Weaknesses: None Strategy: Give Lucca a Speed-enhancing accessory before the battle. It is absolutely critical she goes first. When she goes, have her cast HypnoWave. If one of the Golems falls asleep, good. If they both fall asleep, excellent. If neither Golem falls asleep, press reset because they will wipe out the party in a matter of seconds. Concentrate on the Golem that didn't fall asleep with Lucca and Robo's Fire Tackle and Crono's Confuse. Lucca should cast HypnoWave every so-often to make sure the other Golem doesn't wake up. When the first Golem dies, concentrate your attacks on the second one until it, too, dies. Name: GolemBoss Preferred Characters: Any Weaknesses: None Strategy: Pound this boss with normal attacks. It won't attack because it's afraid of heights. Eventually, if you don't kill it, it will fall off and die, but you won't get any EXP. So try and kill it. Name: Dalton Plus Preferred Characters: Any Weaknesses: None Strategy: Use your most powerful Dual Techs on Dalton. After you have inflicted around 4000 points of damage, he will call for GolemBoss, who is already dead, and get sucked into the void. Name: Magus Preferred Characters: Alya, Lucca, Robo Weaknesses: None Strategy: This time, Magus is nowhere near as powerful as last time because his powers have been drained. He is still quite formidable, however. Lucca should use Flare while Alya and Robo use Beast Toss. Keep with this even if some of your characters die because he only has about 5000 HP. Name: Lavos Spawn Preferred Characters: Frog, Alya, Marle Weaknesses: None Strategy: Use Alya's Cat Attack and Frog's Leap Slash on the Spawn's mouth. If you have more powerful techs, use them. Have Marle cure your party when they get injured. The most important thing to remember is not to harm the shell, because it will counterattack with Lavos Spawn Needle, which is quite powerful. Name: Retinite Preferred Characters: Alya, Robo, Marle Weaknesses: Body and legs- none; Core- absorbs energy from Lightning, Fire, and Shadow. Strategy: Have Marle cast Ice2 constantly to keep the Retinite's defense down while Alya and Robo attack with their most powerful single Techs (I recommend Uzzi Punch and Cat Attack or Triple Kick if you have it). Marle should cast Cure on people with low HP. Every once and a while, have Robo use Shock to keep the Core's HP high. While it may be your first instinct to kill the core immediately, the Retinite uses much stronger attacks after it dies. After the top is dead, kill the legs too. When the legs die, kill the core with normal attacks. It's is a tough battle, but not impossible. Name: Flea Plus Preferred Characters: Alya, Frog, Crono Weaknesses: Just about everything Strategy: Use weaker techs (Like X-Cut, for example) because Flea Plus is practically the same as the first Flea in Magus' castle. Name: Super Slash Preferred Characters: Alya, Crono, Frog Weaknesses: Same as Flea Plus Strategy: Use the same tachs you did against Flea Plus. Name: Great Ozzie and Friends Preferred Characters: Alya, Crono, Frog Weaknesses: None in particular Strategy: First, Alya can charm the Flea Vest, OzziePants, and Slasher 2 away from their owners. The OzziePants are the best helmet, but you have the Chaos condition at the beginning of battles. Slasher 2 s a 155 attack power sword for Crono. Flea Vest is an accessory which increases your Magic Defense by Twelve. After you have these items, use Falcon Hit on Slash and Flea until they buy the farm. They usually counter attack with their Bad Impulse triple tech, so have Frog use Heal on all your characters after you connect with Falcon Hit. After Flea and Slash bite the dust, Great Ozzie runs. Name: Great Ozzie by himself Preferred Characters: Any Weaknesses: I don't suggest attacking. Strategy: hit the switch behind him, opening a pit below you. After you fall, return to Ozzie and a cat will walk in and press a switch that opens a hole beneath Ozzie. Without his Ice Barrier, Ozzie falls to his doom. Name: Son of Sun Preferred Characters: Your two fastest and Lucca Weaknesses: Unpredictably, Son of Sun is strong against all attacks, including Ice. Strategy: Before the battle, give one of your characters a Red Vest, one Red Armor, and Lucca the Taban Helm, Ruby Armor, and Flea Vest. Use a multi-attack that doesn't require many MP and hits all the flames surrounding Son of Sun (Like Cyclone or Napalm). Attack the one that doesn't counterattack with normal weapons. Damage to it should do around 200 to Son of Sun. When Son of Sun uses Roulette Shuffle, repeat the process. When he loses his flame, he will retreat. Name: Rust Tyrano Preferred Characters: Crono, Alya, Frog Weaknesses: Lightning Strategy: Give everyone Ruby Armor, Red Vests, or Red Armor. When RustTyrano counts down, have Crono and Frog use their Spire combo while Alya uses Triple Kick. When he uses his fire attack, have Frog use Heal and keep attacking. He has a lot of HP but shouldn't be all that hard. Name: Yakara XIII Preferred Characters: Crono, Frog, Marle Weaknesses: None Strategy: Have Crono use Confuse while Marle and Frog use their Glaicer attack. When Yakara XIII uses his NeedleSpin 13 attack, Have Crono and Marle use their Aura Whirl combo or have Frog and Marle use their Double Cure combo. Keep attacking with your most powerful attacks. After Yakara XIII bites the bust, you will go into a short demo scene. After the Demo, return to where you defeated Yakara and get the Yakara Key and find the treasure chest close by. Name: Mega Mutant Preferred Characters: Crono, Anubis, Marle Weaknesses: Magic Strategy: Everyone should have some kind of status-protecting equipment, like the Vigil Hat, Nova Armor, or Amulet. Giga Mutant has lots of status-changing attacks. Have Crono use Luminare while Anubis uses Dark Mist or Dark Matter if he has it. Marle can attack with Ice 2 or Cure whoever gets hurt. Name: Giga Mutant Preferred Characters: Crono, Anubis, Marle Weaknesses: Magic Strategy: Basically the same as the Mega Mutant, but Giga Mutant has more HP. Also, it should be noted that the bottom half of the mutant is virtually immune to physical attacks. Name: TerraMutant (Do we see a pattern emerging here? : ) Preferred Characters: Crono, Anubis, Marle Weaknesses: Magic Strategy: Like Giga Mutant, but now the top is immune to physical attacks too and it has a nasty habit of counterattacking with LifeShaver if hit. Defeat it with the same strategy you used on Mega and Giga. Don't worry, this is the last one. Name: Lavos Spawn Preferred Characters: Crono, Frog, Alya Weaknesses: Shell- Strong against everything. Mouth- None Strategy: To answer your unasked question- Yes, you have defeated these guys before, but this is the hardest one. Have Crono use Confuse on the mouth while Frog and Alya use Drop Kick on the mouth. Like the others, this one counterattacks with Lavos Spawn Needle if you hit the shell. Use Slurp Kiss to keep yourself healthy and keep attacking. You should be able to triumphantly trounce this thug without much difficulty. Name: Zeal Preferred Characters: Crono, Frog, Alya Weaknesses: None Strategy: You will need a lot of Megalixirs for the series of battles that quickly ensues after this. Get them by having Alya Charm the Ruminator enemies in the Black Omen. To defeat Zeal, wait until she uses her Halliation attack. This is your cue to have Frog use Frog Squashand Alya use Dino Tail. After you use these two attacks (Which should take away several thousand points of damage each since the less HP the character using them has, the more powerful they are), have Crono revive the party with a Megalixir. Use Confuse, Leap Slash, and Triple Kick until Zeal uses Halliation again and repeat the process. She shouldn't take too long. Name: Mammon Machine Preferred Characters: Crono, Frog, and Alya Weaknesses: None Strategy: The Mammon Machine uses any attacks used against it to it's advantage. Magic raises it's Attack Power and normal attack raise it's defense. Therefore, use Magic dual techs, like Spire, Bubble Hit, or Volt Bite. Keep attacking. If the Machine does lots of damage to one person, use Frog's Cure 2 to recover their health. Keep attacking until you wreck the Machine. Name: Zeal Preferred Characters: Crono, Frog, and Alya Weaknesses: Hands- Strong against everything, Head- none Strategy: This tome, Zeal appears as a head and two hands. DO NOT ATTACK THE HANDS! They will counterattack with some really nasty attacks like Flare, MP Buster, Lifeshaver, Ice 2, and even Luminare! Use Frog and Crono's Spire combo while Alya uses Triple Kick. If you are in danger, use Frog and Alya's Slurp Kiss. Also, if you charm the hands, you can obtain a PrisimDress and a Prisim Helm, but risk a counterattack. If you are using characters other than those I suggest, you will find that Lucca's MegaBomb and Anubis' Dark Bomb are quite effective. Name: Lavos (Shell) Preferred Characters: Crono, Frog, Alya Weaknesses: See below Strategy: Depending on how you got here, you may or may not fight this part. Also, if you arrived from certain places in the game, Lavos skips his first method of attack. Lavos' first tactic is to imitate the attacks of bosses long dead. He uses the powers of the Dragon Tank, Guardian Bit, MasaMune, Giga Gaia, Zombor, and Nizbel, just to name a few. Most of them can be easily defeated, however, since they have the EXACT same statistics, including Defense and HP, of their earlier incarnations. Refer back in this guide if you're having trouble. When he attacks as himself, he is not very powerful either. His "Destruction Rain" can be painful, but heal yourself and keep hitting the mouth. When the mouth dies, you enter the shell. Name: Lavos (Robot) Preferred Characters: Crono, Anubis, Alya Weaknesses: Body is immune to most attacks until arms are dead. Strategy: This is where levels count. Be around 55 with the best Mag. Degense possible. Lavos' first attack is to open the "Doors of Doom" and buffet you with high-powered laser beams. Have whoever is ready use a Megalixir. Throughout the battle, have Crono use Luminare and Anubis use Dark Matter. It is imperative that you kill at least one of Lavos' arms so he cannot use his Laser attack. Have Alya use Triple Kick on the Left arm until it dies while Crono and Anubis use their spells. When the Left arm dies, attack the right one until it, too, dies. Use Megalixirs if your MP gets low (I told you you'd need lots). When both arms are dead, attack the body. Some of it's status-changing attacks work even with change-proof armor. Use a Heal on anyone who changes status. When it dies, it will change to it's final form. Name: Lavos Core (Also known as Lavos Bit) Preferred Characters: Crono, Anubis, Alya Weaknesses: Left- Strong against all magic. Center- none. Right- immune to everything when it is "Defended". Strategy: First, have Alya destroy the left part with a Triple Kick. If the left comes back later, have her kill it again. After that is dead, have Anubis use Dark Matter while Crono uses Confuse and Alya uses Triple Kick on the Right part. Do not specifically attack the creature in the middle. If you are wounded by the Creatures Dreamless, Power Stone, or Evil Star attacks, use a Megalixir FAST (it tends to follow up with Crying Heavens or it's normal attack). Keep pounding on the right. It has over 25,000 HP, so expect a long battle. When it dies, you see an ending to the game, depending on how you got to it and what you have done in the game.(Hint- Get the best ending by beating him after going into the right portal of Lucca's Telepod in the millennia fair!)
