Super Mario Kart
Reviewed by Tom Tubbs
There has been a lot of controversy going around that Mario Kart 64
completely wipes out Super Mario Kart but that is not true. Yes Mario
Kart 64 has better graphics and sound but the gameplay is better on
Super Mario Kart. Lakitu (the guide) tells you what lap you are on and
if you're going the right way or not. The characters are unique in every
way. there are 4 classes and 8 characters. The first class is Donkey
Kong JR and Bowser. They are the fastest of all players, but are very
slow to accelerate. The next class are Mario and Luigi who are second
fastest but third slowest to accelerate. The next are Yoshi and Princess
who are third fastest but best to accelerate. Next are Toad and Koopa
Troopa who are slowest but are second fastest in accelerating and turn
the best. But enough statistics, lets get to graphics.
Graphics 8.5 out of 10
Graphics were smooth and clear but not very intense. I think the graphics
are great for a 3-D 16 bit system.
Music and Sound 9.9 out of 10
Music was great. It never messed up or stopped. Koopa Beach had the best
music but I also liked Rainbow Road. Sound FX were good and had 3-D
effects like if the hit was far away, the sound would be softer like if
it was far away.
Game Challenge 7 out of 10
Super easy on 50cc super hard on 150cc. The real challenge was getting
the computer players that normally would be on top down in last.
Game Play-Fun 10 out of 10
The real fun was knocking off the computer with red shells or any thing
else. Rainbow road was fun because if you hit the computer with red
shells, they would fly off the edge.
Frustration
The only frustrating part was on two player game when you come in last
and the other player comes in first because you can't do it over again.
Replayability 9 out of 10
You have to have another player to make the game fun. But even when it's
one player the time trials are funniest.
Game Value 9.9 out of 10
It's worth the price. Very cheap-- only $35.
Overall 9.5 out of 10
Over all the game was exiting and challenging. When you beat the game it's
very neat and well worth the price of $35 and becoming an expert.
