Shadowrun
Reviewed by Todd Christensen
Shadowrun is about a guy, named Jake, Who was a 'shadowrunner' or a person who
watches over you in exchange for money. He was almost killed in action and someone
healed him, but it's a great game since you use a gun! Other cool things about it are
that you have spells, it's real time, you choose what to up when you level up, you get
to hack computers for money, so on...
Graphics 9 out of 10
These graphics are great! You can see the size of the gun your holding, the helicopter,
boat, and subway cars have really nice graphics and animation, you can turn in eight
directions, so can your enemies, it's also diagnoly based (you know pressing right
makes you go up and right), and has lots of graphics. The worst graphics are even still good.
Music and Sound 8 out of 10
It has great music (especially the ending music), but not so great (or many) sound
effects... only sounds like the Jester laughing, your gun firing, you getting shot,
a rusted door opening, casting a spell, the whispering sound it makes when someone
talks to you... but there still good just not as good and plentiful as they should be,
but it's ok since the music kind of makes up for it.
Game Challenge 7 out of 10
This isn't really challenging if you play it right, and stock up on lots of cash... but
some places (the sorta-bosses) were a little to hard (kind of) and after you get far
enough winning is sort of easy. the hard place is the place called the volcano, which
takes a long time to beat... so all in all it's a great game, but if you want something
really hard this won't (exactly) be it.
Game Play-Fun 9 out of 10
This isn't really challenging, but it's fun! You have to aim on the enemies you can
hire shadowrunners (for a while...), you can talk to people about anything that
you've heard someone else mention... I really liked it and the ending is really
cool... but that's my opinion, and since I don't exactly have the best taste in
games some people might like it more, or less since it all depends on if you like
real time action RPGs.
Frustration
Frustration... well you can't get stuck (as if you don't do something so now you
have to start all over) but it can be hard in places like fighting the jester... it
took me dying about three or four times before I figured out how to beat him.
If you play this and get frustrated then just save your game and try again in an
hour (also try to figure out different ways to beat them/get through this puzzle
then you've already tried)
Replayability 7 out of 10
Its OK to play again but it loses a little since you know how to beat the puzzles
and the ending makes you want to play the sequel there making/made, not it again.
but playing it again is still hard since you still need money karma so on... so its
still an ok game to replay.
Game Value 9 out of 10
Actually, I don't know how much it really costs since I bought the pre-used
version at blockbuster for ten dollars but it can't cost much more than twenty-five
(now that people don't like Super NES games as much) dollars and if it does... well then
I don't know how much games should really cost but it's still worth it.
Control 10 out of 10
I guess control (like ease of pressing the buttons fast or whatever) is a good
category... and it has great control, A is fire/aim, b is examine/action, L is examine,
R is action, X is Spell, and Y isn't used. Also pressing the a button faster won't make
you fire faster (unless you have boosted reflexes).
Creativity 9.5 out of 10
How hard and strange are the puzzles? Hard. Very hard (well some of them), and kind
of weird sometimes. You have to think of every thing but this realistic not 'the fish
opens the door' strange (sorry to people who like those kind and thought this game
was like that).
Overall 8.7 out of 10
Shadowrun is a great game and I would buy it... if I hadn't already its got what counts
and got it good there. it also has some good Game Genie codes (money, karma) that you
can use.(not good at conclusions)
