Secret of Mana
Reviewed by Rydia
Ah...one of the best games in the world (save FF2). Great storyline
and it DID have a great commercial...
Graphics 8 out of 10
The graphics are excellent!!! The bad guys are right-up-in-your-face types,
and don't just SIT there!!! They actually MOVE! And your characters
have their own traits, and you can TELL what weapon you have in your
hand. Instead of traditional Menu screens, you have a ring form around
you with your choices of what you need to do. And everyone, get all your
magic to level eight, then use your spells a lot! They will turn VERY
interesting!
Music and Sound 7 out of 10
The music gets monotonous (ESPECIALLY the dwarf village), but its
still great!!! Everything gets its own tune (such as villages, different
lands, etc.), and doesn't get EXTREMELY boring. The sound effects are
great, too. When you call up magic, each spell has its own little effect,
such as lava curdling for a lava spell.
Game Challenge 7 out of 10
The game makes you THINK a lot, to get through certain places (everyone
remembers the first time in the Great Forest?), and to talk to people to
get hints on where to go, etc. A classic, yet different RPG.
Game Play-Fun 10 out of 10
GREAT FUUUUNNN!!! This game has a ton of fun, better than a barrel full
of monkeys! It has good humor, and doesn't try too hard to be funny, just
does it in its own little subtle way. Its very fun to play this game because
its not too serious and not too easy and funny.
Frustration
VERY FRUSTRATING (as I said, the Great Forest...). Sometimes, you have
NO CLUE on what to do, or how to beat a boss, or sometimes you're not
leveled up enough to beat a boss and CANT go gain levels...errgghhh...
Replayability 5 out of 10
This is a sort of Play-Once-And-That's-It. Once you get the gist of it,
then that's it.
Game Value 3 out of 10
I say it should be about $30, not SEVENTY! SHEESH! I mean, its a great game
and all, but $70.00 can buy you a N64 game!
Overall 9 out of 10
This is a great game, and I HIGHLY recommend buying it if you're a little
rusty at RPG's. You'll feel very satisfied with yourself after beating it :-)
