Out of this World
Reviewed by (EniGmA)
Out of this World is kind of a sci-fi thriller, but not with all of that UFO,
spaceship and ray gun crap. The game starts when you are pulled into another
dimension via a computer experiment that went bad. You find yourself in
different areas, mostly rocky cliffs and caves, looking for a way back home.
However, odd-looking alien creatures are patrolling around and will fire at
you if you are spotted, so you must thing of strategic ways to escape areas and
evade the enemy while you're at it.
Graphics 9 out of 10
The graphics are awesome for an SNES game. The animation is lifelike and comes
second only to Flashback. The animated cinemas are amazing, and it's just kewl to
watch the skin burn off your opponent when you fire at him, while his skeleton
slowly crumbles. It's overall very nice to watch.
Music and Sound 9 out of 10
The music is simply awesome. The suspenseful music really builds up your
adrenaline, and sounds like it could be worthy of a movie! The sound effects are
also realistic as well, except for near the beginning when these aliens are talking
to you and I couldn't understand what they were saying (no it wasn't in a different language!)
Game Challenge 10 out of 10
You need to use your brain A LOT in this game as well as your gun. Events include
escaping lion with no weapons (so you can't run up to him and kick him....what
happens isn't a pretty sight) , escaping a prison by shutting off the power so
the security systems are out, Blowing up a dam, then escaping from the rushing
water, shooting rocks and boulders so they will tip over and give you a path to
walk up, intense gunfights, you even find a huge machine which you don't know
how to operate, so must hit all of the buttons to activate weapons while enemies
try to attack you! Also, one hit with a laser will kill you, but you can create
electronic barriers to defend you from them. This is very realistic, since, who
WOULD be able to survive a laser in the head, eh? . The last boss only takes one hit,
but if you think about it, who would be able to survive one shot with a laser beam
with a 20-foot density?
Game Play-Fun 9 out of 10
It is awesome! This game is truly a sweet game...too bad the sequel was made
on...gasp! NOOOO! Sega CD.....that just stinks. This game is constantly holding you in
suspense, making you wonder what's going to happen next.. Alas, the game is a
little too short.
Overall 9.5 out of 10
If you are sick of walking around and shooting at everything mindlessly, or if you
just want to buy a good game, you must get this. It was one of the coolest Super NES
games I've played and holds you in suspense like a mystery film....
