Mega Man X3
Reviewed by (EniGmA)
Mega Man X's third installment adds the option of playing Zero, and
some new Mechs, but other than that, this game really doesn't add
much to the series. It shines in many areas, but stumbles in a few.
Graphics 9 out of 10
The animation is better than the first or second, but they really could
have used the 3-dimensional C-4 chip a little more to really make the
graphics stand out. All in all, it's very good, but not up to the full
capability of it.
Music and Sound 6 out of 10
This has to be the worst music I've heard in the entire X series!!
The sound is great but it doesn't make up for the monotonous music.
Listen to Blizzard Buffalo's song! It's horrible!! Some of the songs, I
admit, are pretty good, but very few. Don't expect to have the volume
up too high when you play this game....
Game Challenge 8 out of 10
A problem with the challenge is when you make it to the advanced stages,
the bosses do four times as much damage to you, unless you have the
special armor. If you have the special armor, then you won't have the
special gun, because you can only have one special item and your hits
will be super weak. Do you see how this is unfair?! The only way to
even the odds is to find the secret golden armor which gives you
everything. This is a SECRET, nonetheless, so most people won't find it.
However, some bosses take sheer reflex and skill to destroy so that's
why this category remains a stable grade.
Game Play-Fun 9 out of 10
This game had way more voice-overs and hidden items than any other
X game, and it kept my attention for quite a long time. It tries hard to
keep the variety, and even though a couple new ideas are thrown at you,
it's still the same X game underneath. However, the main thing is the
game is fun to play. Period.
Frustration
There's a frustrating part explained in the 'challenge' category above.
Replayability 7 out of 10
There's still not much of a reason to play it again, but the ending is
slightly altered depending if you've killed Zero or not.
Game Value 9 out of 10
Only buy it if you like the series. Enough said.
Overall 8 out of 10
Mega Man X3 struggles to keep variety, but it's just the same old game.
It would have gotten a nine out of ten, but the annoying music can't be ignored.
