Mega Man Soccer
Reviewed by James Jackson
Well, Mega Man Soccer was an interesting way to take the Mega Man
series. But...I didn't say it was good. In this review I will break the
game down piece by piece.
Graphics: 7 out of 10
Mega Man Soccer's graphics were mediocre for the SNES. The game
really wasn't eye candy and they weren't as good as the normal Mega
Man games. However, it was kind of cool to see a robot do it's own little
dance after scoring a goal.
Music and Sound: 8 out of 10
The music and sound fit the game nicely. When you kicked the ball it
sounded like you were kicking a ball, and when you blasted a ball with
a weird weapon it sounded like some weapon with the ball. Also, when
you scored a goal the music sounded like you made a triumph.
Game Challenge: 5 out of 10
It doesn't take long for you to master this game. The teams that you
face are horrendously weak, (with the exception of Dr. Wily, of course)
and I usually beat them by three or four points. Heck, the most challenge
I found was when I was trying to enter the password in the Capcom Championship.
Game Play-Fun: 6 out of 10
This game can be fun at times, like when you're totally annihilating
your friend in two player mode, or when you're totally destroying the
computer. For the majority of the time, however, it is not fun because
the computer is way to easy and it's password system is terrible.
Frustration
Personally, I didn't find this game frustrating unless I lost in the
Capcom Championship and had to enter the password. The games are
also hideously long! I was frustrated at having to play 10 minutes+
for each game in the Capcom Championship!
Replayability: 6 out of 10
When I beat the Capcom Championship, I got no ending. Nor did I with
any of the other modes. This game's saving grace is it's many modes,
including things like: League, Tournament, and Exhibition. But, soon all
those modes become boring.
Game Value: 3 out of 10
One word: NO! I dished out 20 bucks for this at Funcoland a few years
back! This game has a limited appeal, making it not worth the buy. You
could spend your hard-earned cash on better games.
Overall: 5 out of 10
I find this game to be a disgrace to the Mega Man games. Come on, when
a game has a plot like: 'Dr. Wily's robots take over the soccer field, and
if one of the madman's teams wins a game, the world is doomed!' I did
not like this game, I can tell you. Practically the only thing I liked about
this game is it's many modes.
