Lost Vikings 2

Get the game at Amazon.com!

Reviewed by Transmute The Lost Vikings 2 is a game that you will pull out of your closet in 3 or 4 years (or, for that matter, now) and "remember the good old days." Once played, it can't easily be forgotten, or given up.

Graphics 7 out of 10

The graphics in the game aren't anything superior, like Donkey Kong Country or Mario RPG, but normal Super NES graphics. Don't get me wrong though, you can tell what everything is and all, but graphics on this game aren't anything special.

Music and Sound 8 out of 10

The music in this game fits the environment to a T. I especially like the background sound in the pirate ship and the last stage. When you read about the jungle stage, you can pretty much visualize what its going to sound like. And you'll probably be right. Of course, a lot of the soundtrack is none too catchy, but fitting nonetheless. The sound effects fit well also, from Baloeng's bionic arm, to Olaf's passing gas.

Game Challenge 10 out of 10

If you are looking for a game to keep you busy for weeks on end, the Lost Vikings do not disappoint. There is always something you haven't figured out, something you haven't done. And best of all, NO SPOILERS! There are no strategy guides and very few internet sites that will ruin the whole game for you.

Game Play-Fun 9 out of 10

For the intellectuals, there's RPGs. for the idiots, there's fighting games. And for there rest of us, there's this. Lost Vikings 2 is a perfect game to play with your friend on a rainy day, and the comical storyline will keep you laughing. Sure, the game is awesome just by yourself, but with a partner, its something else entirely. And to add to the fun, there are also two additional characters you get later in the game. One of the main things that makes this game fun is that there is nothing you have to collect. I mean, you have to get three easy to find items in every stage, but you don't have to find thirty missile upgrades, if you get my drift.

Frustration

As you would probably expect out of a puzzle type game, this game can get frustrating from time to time, and then the music gets annoying, and then you shut it off. Ten minutes later you find you can easily proceed through the part that you had so much trouble with before, because you are no longer frustrated.

Replayability 8 out of 10

Once you beat this game (no easy task), you probably wont want to start over again right away. But this definitely isn't something you'd beat then a month later sell it for five bucks. no, this is a game you can enjoy over and over again, about every other month.

Game Value 10 out of 10

Unlike many Nintendo 64 games, Lost Vikings shows it has a true value in its uniqueness, if that's even a word. And, its moot anyway seeing as how nowadays you can get any super Nintendo game for melted cheese.

Humor 10 out of 10

Let me just say this.. If interplay keeps making games like Lost Vikings, they'll soon be known as the funniest video game programmers of all time, possibly second, only to the maniacs that dreamt up earthworm jim. Right when you turn on the game you know your going to be laughing. The intro tells how the vikings got into this mess by showing Olaf looking at a sign saying 'Do Not Touch,' thinking it says donuts. Even the names are comical. You find yourself giggling every time Olaf farts, every time the name 'tomator' is mentioned, every time the vikings make a joke about you losing a level 10 time in a row.

Overall 9 out of 10

The Lost Vikings 2 is one of the most unique games every created (aside, possibly, from the lost vikings 1) and if you want a way to shake the dust off your super Nintendo, then pick up a copy of the Lost Vikings 2 at any store that's cool enough to sell Super NES games.
