Home Alone 2
Reviewed by Jon Schimpke
Home Alone 2 is a great game if you're looking for old-fashioned
side- scrolling game. If you've seen the movie, then you'll get the idea
of the game. For those in the dark: You are Kevin and are lost in Ney
York. You take the wrong plane, and end up starting out in the lobby of
the Plaza Hotel. Watch out for luggage, fat guys that grab you, old
grannys, mops, belhops, a man pushing luggage, and a menacing vacuum
cleaner. The next level is going through the floors of the hotel and
getting things from the rooms. The same enemies are scattered about,
with a new enemy in every room, the Cleaning lady. On the last floor,
you take a freight elevator to the kitchen. In this level there are
various new enemies.
Graphics 4 out of 5
This game's graphics are run of the line Nintendo quality, although
they are better than Super Mario Bros. 3. There is plenty of action
with no drop in framerate.
Music and Sound 1 out of 5
This a one of the downfalls of the game. There is one song that plays
for about 20 seconds, then starts over again. The sound effects are
pretty bad, and repetitive, like when you slide, the noise can get very
annoying.
Game Challenge 5 out of 5
This game is hard if you are playing it for the first time. As you continue
to play you get farther and farther, as the levels get harder and harder.
Game Play-Fun 4 out of 5
This game is fun as you continue to get to the harder levels. The slide
feature is quite innovative, used to kill luggage. You also get guns,
although there are only a few, dartgun, super punch, and mega punch.
Frustration
This game can be frustrating as you get to the harder levels, then die,
you have to beat the easy levels all over again. Another frustrating
thing is when you get to the pigeon lady level, it is almost impossible
to get hit by the things they drop.
Replayability 3 out of 5
Playing the same levels again and again can get very boring, therefore
I only gave this game 3 out of 5.
Overall 4 out of 5
If you have the NES system and you see this game for cheap (10 bucks)
I would highly recommend this game.
