Fatal Fury
Reviewed by Michael Morgado
The story is about Andy and Terry Bougard who want revenge against some
dude who killed their father. This game has all the major cliches.
Graphics: 6 out of 10
Considering the fact that this game came out in 1992, You wouldn't expect
it to have stellar graphics, and it doesn't. But the graphics do the job.
Sometimes the graphics look shady, and sometimes the colors would get
messed up. The graphics are are okay, but they could have been better.
Music and Sound: 2 out of 10
The music is terrible! For a lot of levels, it's just the same beat over and
over again for two 99 second rounds. And the starting music is just so
corny, it made me want to puke. And the sound is bad, too! I noticed that
near the end of the game, the music would be really fuzzy, and full of static.
And the grunts and groans of the fighters didn't sound right. If you want to
hook up your SNES to a Dolby Surround Sound system, don't play this game.
Game Challenge: 3 out of 10
This game was probably one of easiest fighters I have played in a long
time. Getting to the final boss wasn't so much easy, as it was quick. The
game took me 10-15 minutes to beat. The most "challenging" part of the
game, is that there is only three fighters to choose from!
Game Play-Fun: 4 out of 10
I'll admit, the gameplay at first, was a bit fun, but after a while, it gets
pretty boring. It's not that bad, for awhile. But two player mode was pretty
fun. Me and my cousins played it for an hour straight! If the whole game was
as good as 2 player mode, I would make the rating 7 out of 10.
Frustration
Not much here. Unless you have a mental handycap, have never played
video games or just flat out suck, there is no way that this game will
prove frustrating.
Nothing to unlock, three characters, and no surprises makes this game
a one time only thing.
Game Value: 3 out of 10
I can't believe I paid more than $20 dollars for this game. If you like it,
and you can find it for under $10 dollars, I say buy. But in my opinion,
it's a rental at best.
Control: 9 out of 10
This is where the game really shines. Although there are only three buttons
you need to use, it's pretty simple and responsive. The controls are like this:
A-Grab opponent, do special moves.
B-Kick
Y-Punch
Almost the whole game is a Street Fighter ripp-off, but at least the
control scheme is original.
Overall: 4 out of 10
I've waited the whole review to say this: This game is a Street Fighter
ripp-off! You could tell that the developers put lots of hard work into
the game, but they failed. With more characters, a better title, more
work, better graphics, better sound, and more advertisement this game
could have been a masterpiece. Instead we got one of the worst games
of the early 90's.
