Donkey Kong Country
Reviewed by Koa
Donkey Kong Country is a great game. It was one of my first games for
Super NES and it was my favorite one for the time. At that time this
game was the best game until they made the more graphical games for
Super NES like Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars and Donkey
Kong Country 2. It was "the game" at the time it was brought out. To
me, this game was the rebirth of Super NES. Sure its not as good as
the games that came after it, but without this game I think the Super
NES was have been down the drain along time ago. It has tons of secrets
and codes and its a had full of fun. Its about two monkeys, Donkey Kong
and Diddy Kong. Donkey Kong is real old. One of the first games for NES
had Donkey Kong in it.
Graphics 9 out of 10
The graphics were almost 3D. This was probably the most graphical
game for the Super NES at the time it came out. It was the starting
point of a new era of graphics for the Super NES. Its not the most
graphical game now because the technology of the Super NES has
advanced a little more in graphics. The only part of this game that
wasn't graphical is when its in map mode. Everything is 2D when its
in map mode. I think the graphics made the game a whole lot better.
Without the graphics the game would have probably sucked.
Music and Sound 10 out of 10
The music were great. On every level there was a new musical back
round and never the same boring one. The monkey noises were good,
but the sound some of the bad guys made could have used improvements.
Overall, the sound was great. The sound also made Donkey Kong Country
a better game.
Game Challenge 8 out of 10
The graphics and sound were great, but the game it self was never really
challenging. A couple parts here and there were difficult, but once you
got a little skill in the game it was pretty easy. Probably the most
difficult part in the game was versing the boss. He was still kind of easy.
I think could have made the game better if they put difficulty levels on
the game.
Game Play-Fun 10 out of 10
This game was an excellent game to play because its fun! You had three
different modes to choose from:
Two-player Contest
Two-player Team
One-player
Two-player Contest was good because if you were versing someone
junk at the game (like my brother) it gets them shooken-up and mad
and its funny watching them get frustrated. Two-player Team stinks
if you play with someone junk(like my brother) because you don't get
real far in the game, but if you play with someone real good then it
rules because you'll pass the game in no time. One-player is good because
you get to see how good you are by yourself. Overall, the game is really fun.
Frustration
The game is frustrating on some parts, like the ice places, because you
just can't beat this one part that seems so easy and it makes you want
to break the game in half because loosing all this life just from this
one small little part. When your at the boss, you get all excited and
tense and your completely nervous. That's the worst part about this
game. Its frustration level.
Replayability 8 out of 10
This game isn't all that replayable. After you beat the game, you want
to go back and find all the secret stuff. After awhile you get tired of
trying to find all the secret stuff since its almost impossible to do so
you stop playing it for a long, long time. After you stopped playing it,
you will only play it once in awhile.
Game Value $15 out of $60
Sure its an excellent game, but its still not worth as much as it used to.
The first month it came out it was definitely worth $60, but it gradually
went down. A good deal for it would probably be $15. A cheap price would
probably $10. To me, I think $20 or high is a rip off for this game. Its old
and you could probably even get it for $5 at a garage sale!
Overall 9 out of 10
Overall, I think this game was great. Not perfect but good. It could
use some improvements, but I guess its too late for that.
