Tony Hawk's Pro Skater
Reviewed by Mike
First of all, nobody expected anybody but skaters to really like the
game. That was wrong. Many people love this game and it is very easy
to see why. Everything is as close to perfection as it gets. The graphics,
the sound, the fun, and everything else is just great!
Graphics: 9 out of 10
This game has excellent graphics which are, except for a few glitches,
well, flawless. The animations of the faces are much more detailed than
I expected. Also, the designs on the boards themselves are painstakingly realistic.
Music and Sound: 10 out of 10
Perfect. The punk/ska soundtrack perfectly matches the game. Also, the
"Skip Track" feature allows you to pick your favorite of the many songs.
Game Challenge: 4 out of 10
The worst thing about this game is its difficulty. Tony Hawk is one of
the easiest games out there. Collecting the tapes and getting the high
scores is way too easy. Also, I think that balancing a grind should be
much harder than it is.
Game Play-Fun: 9 out of 10
Tony Hawk is also one of the most fun games. Once you finish career
mode (or even if you don't) the Free Skate mode is fun for everyone!
It has no objectives so you can go out and, as the French say, bust a move!
Replayability: 8 out of 10
I could play this game forever! The Free Skate and Single Session
modes allow you to challenge yourself and try to earn more points, and
make bigger, better combos. I've had this game since the day it came out,
I and it still sits proudly atop my stack of games (including Perfect Dark).
Multi player: 5 out of 10
Okay, so the multi player isn't great. If you want good multi player, take
turns playing Single Sessions and see who gets the higher score. But
the Two Player mode itself is pretty lame.
Overall: 9 out of 10
Man, I love this game. And apparently, so do thousands and thousands of
other people. If you do not own this game, then you should be ashamed of
yourself. The best out there.
