Super Smash Bros.
Reviewed by Johnny
Super Smash Bros. is the most unique game on the Nintendo 64. Instead
of getting your opponents life meter down, you have to knock
them off the edge entirely. And each arena is different and adds
new challenges on. Plus there are many popular characters to
use and all of them are popular. Personally, my favorite is Kirby
or Pikachu. Nintendo should make more games with popular
characters in a single game.
Graphics 4 out of 5
The graphic are very good in the intro and on the charactors, but
when you pause it and get close up, they look kind of cheep. Especially
the Pokemon that come out of the Pokeball. And if zoom in on Fox
hanging off a ledge, it looks pretty cheep. This area count use a
little more work.
Music and Sound 4 out of 5
All the tunes in this game are classics and all are good music to
fight with (except Samus's and Fox's). Kirby's music fits perfectly
with the fighting. Some can get old after a while, though. The
audience sounds are good, and so is the narrator. The sound effects
when some one gets hit sound cartoonish, which is pretty cool. The
voices of the charactors are cool, but some can get annoying (like Ness).
Game Challenge 4 out of 5
The game can be very challenging and very frustrating. You'll need
patience to get the hidden characters. I only wish there harder
computers on the multi-player mode. The level 9s are easy for
experienced players.
Game Play-Fun 5 out of 5
Super Smash Bros. is the most fun game on the system. There
is no real end, you can just keep fighting with friends or computers.
Hidden options like the item switch and new exiting things to the game
(like nothing but motions sensor mines on very high! Ha ha ha). There
are so many different things you can do on this game!
Rumble Pak 3 out of 5
The Rumble Pak didn't change much with this game, just made the
controller heavier. I usually had it out.
Frustration
This game is probably the most frustrating games ever made! When
I was getting the hidden characters, I would get so mad when I got to
Master Hand with one life left, and die when he had 30 HP left. This
happened to me so many times that at one time I stopped playing it
for a while! If you are impatient, this game is not for you.
Replayability 5 out of 5
This game is fun even after you beat it already. If you have friends,
the 4- player mode kicks butt! Even with just 2 or 3 people, it was fun.
And even if you don't have any friends, you can face the computer or
play the 1 player mode. This is the kind of game you'll keep playing
for years after you get it.
Game Value 5 out of 5
This game is worth every penny you spend! I was a bit reluctant to
spend all of my birthday money on it, but now I an glad I did it! Any
one questioning weather to get this game, DON'T! This is one of the
best Nintendo 64 games out there!!!
Play Control 5 out of 5
Unlike most fighters, each charactor's controls are the same as
the others. Each fighter has a punch, kick, in the air attack, ect.
along with special attacks with B (B, Up + B, Down + B) and a throw
with R. Anyone can pick up the game and enjoy it, even if they are
bad at video games. And you won't have to memorize 6-button
combos for each character.
Overall 35 out of 40
All in all, it was a very enjoyable game. Some areas could use more
work, but anyone can pick up the game and learn how to play and (the
important part) enjoy it. It is good for beginners as well a experts.
Probably the best game on the Nintendo 64 or maybe ever made!
