Rampage: World Tour

I'd say that there are thousands of games out there that are "offering you the
chance to be the bad guys!" Get real. How many of these games actually put you
in the spot of the good guy? Lots. And how many of them really just stink? Almost
all. So, you're wondering, what's your point? My point is this. If you actually want
to be the bad guys, actually want to crush humans, destroy cities, blow up places
(and cars and people and buildings....) then there's just one game for you.
Rampage: World Tour for the Nintendo 64.
Rampage: World Tour is the sequel (kinda) to an older version simply labeled
Rampage. It was a side-scrollin' human-squashin' game of the 80's. But it was a
huge success. People everywhere would spend hours playing the game. And so
game designers got around to making a new one, called Rampage: World Tour.
Though still side-scrollin', this game rocks. It's 3D, and the humans make
fairly.....interesting.....noises when you squash them, as do the cars, buildings,
or buddies that you bash.
The graphics are fairly mediocre, especially for a N64 game. But they are still
really nice and the claymation look to 'em really adds to the game. There are
multiple famous areas for your character to destroy, including the Moon, Big Ben,
pyramids, and tons of other tourist attractions. The graphics on these are great,
and destroying them with a mere wave of a hook clawed hand or fire spewing mouth
is even greater.
The sound in this game is perfect. Humans will either scream or be simply squashed
as massive paws and claws fall onto their puny bodies. Cars will honk as you kick
them into other cars (or people). Buildings literally shudder with the sight, let
alone the wrath, of your character. There are alien spaceships to entertain your
greedy ears as well as monsters never thought of among the sickest of computer
nerds (yes, you).
You get three different people (people?!? MONSTERS!) to choose from: Ralph, my
personal favorite, a gigantic werewolf dude, Lizzy, a gigantic lizard, and George, a
really big monkey. You advance through hundreds of levels, though this gets rather
boring after awhile, and eat up tasty tan tourists from all over the world.
Overall, I'd give Rampage: World Tour a 90% score. The game is incredible, but is
very frustrating. Not in that its hard, having unlimited continues, but that it gets
so boring after the 60th day or so. Even so, this game really rox, and I'd suggest
that you play until you've beaten it (should take a couple hours).
