Rampage World Tour
Reviewed by Jackson Reid
If you love arcade games, controlling giant beasts, and the squish-squash
of people beneath your feet, then Rampage World Tour is the game for
you. Three people; George, Lizzie, and Ralph have been exposed to lethal
chemicals-changing them into a giant ape, like a horror movie wolf.
You go from city to city, destroying everything in your path, smashing
famous landmarks to bits.
Graphics 8 out of 10
The graphics are O.K., but I must say; this is the game's weak point. The
graphics are like you would see in any arcade game, but a little better
since this is Nintendo 64. They have put good effects in like all the
little, terrified people running around like ants at your feet.
Music and Sound 10 out of 10
Rampage's music is outstanding. You can get a variety of classical suspense
themes to hard rock. The sound is amazing, too. There are zillions of sounds,
such as squishes, barfing sounds, lightning, flames, and lots and lots of screams.
Game Challenge 9 out of 10
The game is the same thing throughout every level, except for new challenges
popping up every now and then. It's fun to go to places like London, Tokyo,
New York, etc. With almost 130 levels, this game is as if it never ends and
the fun just keeps on coming.
Game Play-Fun 10 out of 10
Rampage World Tour is that kind of game that is fun to explore and find
new levels, but it's also the kind of game that makes you say, "The heck
with beating the level, lets just play around." Along with smashing down
buildings and gobbling down helpless victims, you can also fight the other
players by giving 'em a smack or two. There are also special bonus rounds
and secret levels like Area 51 and the Warehouse. There are also special
endangers like Death Breath and Hot Loogie that are even more fun to play with.
Rumble Pak 10 out of 10
Without the Rumble Pak, Rampage would be a boring, dull game, The Rumble
Pak gives the game a new feeling. Feeling the tiny bullets give a little jolt
to your controller is awesome. And things like flamethrowers making your
controller shake like the San Andreas Fault is the best.
Frustration
Rampage has little frustrations. The Beezleborgs and the flying guys that
shoot flames can be a disturbance, but other that, Rampage is a non-frustrating game.
Replayability 10 out of 10
I have beaten Rampage twice, and still I play it all the time. Finding new
levels is real cool. (I'll give you a hint. If you're Ralph, at some cities,
when the name pops up, keep pressing kick.) With George and Lizzie, it's
either punch or jump.
Game Value 9 out of 10
Rampage costs about $50.00, and I think that's a good price.
Overall 9 out of 10
Rampage is, personally, my favorite game for Nintendo 64. With the Rumble
Pak and Controller Pak working with this game, and with up-to three
players being able to play at the same time, this game's a keeper.
