Rampage World Tour
Reviewed by Brendan Kemp
What Rampage World Tour is about is you are a big monster. You go from day to
day destroying cities. Every day you go to a 'new' city. You do this, as far as I can
tell, forever, or as long as you like. The game has no end and no point. Well, there
is a point and that is point less destruction of cities. You are supposed to be getting
back at your boss for morphing you into these strange creatures, but that has now
effect on game play, except for the strange little scenes in between your pointless
destruction of one city and the next. This game is pathetic, worthless junk. Don't
waste your money (or your time) on even renting it.
Graphics 7 out of 10
I'd have to say that this is the part of the game that surprised me the most. After
we picked our guys, the screen came up and I moved around a bit. What?? A side
scroller with 2-D graphics?? Give me a break. At that point I almost blew the game
off as trash and almost didn't play it. But I figured I might as well play it, just
because it was there. As I played more, it seemed that this was one of those cheep
arcade games with lousy graphics. Yet, then, as I played more, I realized that that
was what the designers had intended, an arcade style game that was fun never the
less. I think in the end, the graphics arn't the thing that kills this game, but they
are a big part of the disappointment. I gave the graphics a 7 because that's the
way the game was designed to be, and it didn't work.
Music and Sound 3 out of 10
Nothing special here some blah sound effects that sort of mushed together, because
they were all happening at the same time, didn't really come out. Therefore, they
weren't really noticed. As of the music, if there was any, I sure didn't notice it. That's
for the better, because if there was music, it would just make the sound effects
more mushed. I think the game is missing a really big element here, seeing that
most great games have good music/sound effects. I gave it a three because the sound
effects are there, although they are hard to hear.
Game Challenge 2 out of 10
Before I got sick of this game (that was very quickly) I went through endless
amounts of the same stuff. And all through it, there was no challenge. I went
through day after day of destruction, and occasionally I was 'killed' if one of my
fellow monsters took it upon himself to kill me. Right afterwards, I would grow
right back and keep on playing. Since there is no end to this game, you cannot beat
it, so I can't talk about that. It's really easy, to put it plainly. I gave it a 2 because
some extremely, extremely inexperienced player might die once or twice. My little
sister, (4, no experience with games) did fine just punching random buttons and
using the control stick.
Game Play-Fun 3 out of 10
I'm am giving a 3 to be nice to the game. It really doesn't deserve that in my eyes.
The only time that this game is fun is when 2 of your friends are playing with you.
When you do that, you are always getting in each others way and accidentally picking
fights. If you want to destroy a building, it is hard to get up on it some times. If you
want to eat people, it is annoyingly easy to do something you don't want to do, like
punch the monster next to you. Blah, Blah, Blah. It's all just pointless destruction - a
really good waste of your time.
Frustration
I had frustration with the controls, the monotony of it, how dumb it was and the
thought that I could be doing something better with my time while my friends were
over, like GoldenEye, Mario Kart 64, Fifa '98, 1080 Snowboarding, Star Fox 64, NFL QBC '98
or even Wave Race 64 or Cruisin' USA. Any of these would be much better than
spending any time with Rampage World Tour.
Replayability 4 out of 10
You know, I don't really want to play this game in the first part. But, you know,
the multiplayer is the one and only good thing about this game and if you enjoy
the multiplayer, then you might pick it up again. But, as I said before, this game
isn't even rental worthy, and I would not play this game again, even if I had the
chance FOR FREE.
Game Value 0 out of 10
No, absolutely not. I would not consider dishing out $5 for this game.
Overall 2 out of 10
This game stinks!!! Big time. Don't waste any of your money or time on this. Don't
even waste any more of your time considering this game. Stop reading this review.
From whatever angle you look at, Rampage World Tour is bad. If we were back in the ages
of the original Nintendo, maybe this would go into the libraries of video gamers as
their second favorite to the Mario Bro. series and Zelda and Link and RC Pro Am 2.
But not in these days. And especially not for N64.
