Rampage World Tour
Reviewed by Adam Lefever
Rampage started out in the 80's as an addictive game with 3 monsters named
Lizzie, Ralph, and George and has been evolved into a great playing arcade game,
and has finally been brought home on the Nintendo 64! If you enjoyed the first
Rampage back in the 80's, then you are sure to love this fantastic remake of the
game. From jumping on hotels to destroying banks and eating army soldiers, this
is one game that you HAVE to love. The gameplay is VERY addictive, and I have
found only a few flaws in total. So, game veterans and newbabies alike, step right
up and enjoy some royal rampaging fun!
Graphics 8 out of 10
This game has wonderful visuals. From the 3-dimensional buildings to the
3-dimensional monsters and people, it is defiantly a very good conversion from
the arcade version. The animation is great. Lizzie jumps on and destroys buildings
while Ralph and George eat people and cause a ruckus. You will enjoy every minute
of the humorous visual effects that the game pumps out. There are nuns, UFOs, and
all sorts of vany stuff that every city should have. The graphics are cartoony, but
it just makes the game all the more humorous and enjoyable.
Music and Sound 7 out of 10
Well, the game has great sound effects and even the music is okay, but it all comes
down to the quality. You can distinguish from screams to tanks and boats, but
sometimes it seems to be a little muffled or static-like. This isn't too big of a flaw,
but a picky game player like myself will notice it. The sounds are good though and
really make the game more fun to play while adding a more humorous attitude to
the game. (It is hard not to laugh when you eat people and hearing them scream, no
matter how sick or not you are.) The music is much clearer than the sound effects,
but may get a little annoying after a while.
Game Challenge 4 out of 10
The one thing that this game doesn't have much of is challenge. Which kind of is a
shame, but with 120 levels it is hard to add too much challenge at once. The challenge
very slowly builds up to becoming not much harder than the first
few levels. What the game does have is length. You have unlimited lives, so after
several hours you should be able to breeze through this one if you are a good player.
Game Play-Fun 10 out of 10
This game is defiantly on the top of the fun list. You go stomping down cities one
by one, and if you are in a bad mood, this will probably be the game to ease your
anger. It puts destroying buildings and eating innocent by-standers in a very humorous
and enjoyable way. If you enjoyed pumping quarters into the 80's or new version of
Rampage at the arcade, then you will fall in love with Rampage: World Tour on the
Nintendo 64. With 3 players at once, what could go wrong?
Frustration
This game is hardly frustrating, except when in 2 or 3 player mode every player
has to be within the same range of each other. (You cannot walk if another player
is sitting there.) This is sometimes a frustrating aspect of the game, but it is not
frustrating enough that you will hate the game for it.
Replayability 9 out of 10
If you were in a very bored mood, or wanted something to do, or were stressed out
or angry, this is the game that you would want in your stash. It's not very frustrating
to play, and has fairly easy controls. If this game was drawing you to the arcade
then it will surely draw you back to your Nintendo 64. With 3 player mode it makes
the game more fun, and then you and your friends can have some laughs while
destroying buildings and eating each other.
Game Value 7 out of 10
It all depends on what kind of gamer you are and how much you like the Rampage
games. If you are really into them, a hardcore action gamer, then you would love it.
If you were a more RPG type player, then you would not like this game at all. The
more in-between players who like both, this game would be a great rental, but it
would be up to you to buy it.
Overall 9 out of 10
I think that if you like action gaming, this is the game for you. If you enjoyed playing
this or the older Rampage in the arcade, then you should defiantly buy this one. The
game features some great and humorous graphics, sounds, and gameplay. The control
is easy to learn and to use. So have some fun with the lizard, ape, and wolf and rent
this game tonight!
