Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Reviewed by Kenny Flynn
Hello, everyone! My name is Kenny Flynn and this is my first review of any
game, so please be nice. I have been working tirelessly finding information
on this game and hope that you like it. Zelda is easily noted for its very
fluid gameplay, strong story line, great sounds and effects, but no game
is perfect. It's true that Zelda has its flaws, but don't let them disrupt
your gaming abilities.
Graphics 5 out of 5
Zelda's quick, fluid animation would be nowhere if it weren't for the 64-bit
graphics. These graphics are so smoothly generated, that sometimes, even I
have had to stop playing for about 10-20 minutes just to let my eyes get a
rest and a drink of Visine for dryness.
Music and Sound 5 out of 5
Zelda's sound is just like being along for the ride. Just try hooking up
surround sound and see if your lap, not to mention your lip, is dry after
about 30 minutes. The sound is so full that when you hear a bomb explode,
you think you're in a state of death after being blown up by it. Also,
Link's "war cries" are so life-like that you often have to turn around
to make sure Bruce Lee isn't back there.
Game Challenge 5 out of 5
What can I say? This game's challenge is great! As with most games,
it's never is the same. But, it goes a step further, especially on
the Water Temple. Just figuring that temple out is enough to make you
lose train of thought and pride, not to mention, self-esteem. I do
admit, though, that Gannon could have been a bit more engineered. But,
who cares?! The rest of the game picks up for the weenie parts.
Game Play-Fun 5 out of 5
The enginuity of this game's replay value and overall "fun potential"
is so highly stocked, it could actually have the replay of Final
Fantasy 7. Even though these are two differently categorized games,
might I note. At times, it does get frustrating, but you should never
lose faith in yourself. But, you could just do what millions do each
time they get a game: As soon as the newest strategy guide comes out
for the game, buy it. But, that's the coward's way out.
Rumble Pak 3 out of 5
This is where the designers slacked off. The Rumble Pak should have
been more efficiently used. I do admit, it comes in handy at those
times when you're running around with nothing to do but kill time, but
besides that, it has no other significance.
Frustration
The only frustrating part basically was the Water Temple when I
messed up and used all of my keys too early and couldn't go anywhere.
Besides that, those annoying Peehuts are back with a vengeance and
their kids. Also, Bombchu Bowling is one of the most pointless
mini-games, but the prizes are pretty high respectably.
Replayability 5 out of 5
The replayability is great! As I said before, it's never the same
twice. Even though you can't remember where all of the heart pieces
are, that's one of the good parts!! I guess it might add a little
frustration, but again, don't lose faith in yourself!! You'll eventually
find them, hopefully.
Game Value 5 out of 5
Oh, heck yeah it was worth the price AND the wait! I think the wait
actually helped the rising action into the frenzy to hurry and reserve
it. I think the price was perfectly set at $53.99, where I live.
At this price, it's even more the bustle to reserve it and pay an
extra ten dollars.
Overall 5 out of 5
Overall, I think the game was very good. Very fluid gameplay helped
along with the story line: filling in those little possible pot-holes
and breaks in the story. Adding to the graphics, they aren't very
hindered with the confusion of the camera angle, even though it gets
in the way sometimes. But overall, I think this game runs a close tie
with Final Fantasy 7 for the number one game of all time.
