Goldeneye 007
Reviewed by Josh Babich
James Bond, a suave sophisticated MI6 agent. Never heard of him?...Loser
Of course you know about 007. First Sean Connery, then (that one guy),
Then Roger Moore, Then Timothy Dalton, Then Pierce Brosnan, Now? You.
Yes finally after all these years You get to be "The Immortal James
Bond".
Rare and Nintendo have brought us the best Nintendo 64 game to date.
First The Graphics
Simply incredible! Never has there ever been so great detail in a
first-person shooter before. The textures are quite amazing, and
detailed, and hardly any fog for bringing up the frame rate (no need for
it!). The feel of reality is unparalleled, as you run around in the snow
covered terrain, you look to the sky and almost think the clouds are
real.
Gameplay
Wow! to actually BE James Bond. That's almost enough to make you buy the
game in itself. But not only to be the great 007, you also get to use
Q's gadgets.
The enemies are smart, the action is intense, and the feel of the game
is explosive! (and I don't mean the rumble pak).
From sniping Russian soldiers, to downloading data, to reprogramming a
space shuttle before it takes off, to finding beautiful women (a little
deformed). This game puts you in the tux of James Bond.
Sound
The sound in the beginning sequence is a little mediocre, But that soon
changes to fast, intense original James Bond music. The sound effects
are top notch, and sounds the guys make when they die is very creative.
Humor
Yes this game can get rather humorous. First off shooting guys
depending on where you shoot them they react differently, such as the
'butt shot hop'. And just the regular animation of the guys can be
pretty funny, they yawn, rub their legs together, and sometimes (very
rarely) scratch their b-lls, strange huh? One other thing I consider
humorous is when you are guiding someone out of a level, you can just
turn around and shoot them in the head (but you fail your mission).
Replay Value
The replay value of Goldeneye is better than any I have seen in a long
while. Well you have lots of cheats to get and use, and 3 different
difficulty levels, plus you can also get 2 extra secret levels to play
on. Then There is the multiplayer option, most likely the on thing in
the game I will never grow tired of. What can be better than inviting
your friends over and having all three of them after you, then kicking
all their butts. There are also lots of different multiplayer levels,
scenarios and weapons to play with, plus 33 characters to choose from.
Excellent Replay Value.
