Flying Dragon
Reviewed by Cartman DL
When I first tried out this game I basically thought it was gonna be
the same as most fighting games. Turned out I was wrong. It's much
(not THAT much) different. This is really a pretty good game. Very
Japanese, from the graphics to the audio. I feel that this game
deserved more publicity than it's been getting.
Graphics 8.5 out of 10
The graphics are really touched up in this game. Unlike most games
like Goldeneye, when Bond keeps a straight face even when he dies,
this game actually has the characters changing expressions as they do
certain moves. The only game that I've played that does this is B.I.O.
Freaks. In Virtual Mode, even though they don't change expression in this
mode, the graphics are even smoother, as well as the animation. The only
thing that bothers me about this department of the game is whenever you
do a special technique, he has little sparkles coming out of himself. I don't
know what's up with that, but you got to take the bad for the good, and
overall the graphics are really good.
Music and Sound 5 out of 10
Oh, boy, this department REALLY brings down the game's score. If you're playing
on Virtual Mode, the music is pretty good, but if you are in SD mode, TURN THE
VOLUME DOWN!!!! Just because they have cheap music in most of the anime shows
you see on Cartoon Network doesn't mean that Nintendo can put cheap music
into this game. The music for Shouryu's place is especially annoying. It is
even more annoying along with the noise he makes when hit.
"Da-da-da-da-da-da!!!!" Do you know anyone that makes that noise after
getting thrown?! I don't! Anyway, this department really devastated the
game's score.
Game Challenge 7.5 out of 10
It's not like anyone can't beat the regular Tournament. Even a three-year-old
could probably do it. The Championship Tournaments are a little difficult,
after the first one anyway. The Ryumaou Tournament is what brings the
score in this category up. All the participants are the bosses that were in
the championship mode. So that does make up for the other tournaments in
this mode.
Game Play-Fun 9 out of 10
With 200 different items to equip your fighter with, and so many
tournaments to enter in, multiply that by nine (one secret character),
and the equation adds up. The answer? A really LONG game that's a
joyride all the way. Sorry about the math words.
Replayability 8.5 out of 10
With amazing game play, secret characters and two different game
modes, Flying Dragon is defiantly worth playing over and over again.
And just as it says on the back of the box, it is never the same game twice.
Game Value 9.5 out of 10
Oh, man, this game was worth every single penny. At a price of $54.99,
this is more than worth the price. A game that costs the amount of one,
but lasts as long as two or three.
Overall 8 out of 10
In conclusion, this game just about excelled in every category except
audio. If there was an option to turn off the music, this game would get
a much better score. That shouldn't really take away from it's playability,
however. Flying Dragon is a great game sure to keep you entertained for
a long time.
