Extreme-G 2
Reviewed by Crusader 17
Have you been looking for a good racer for the N64? Sure, Diddy Kong
racing and Mario Kart were fun, but don't you want something faster and
less "kiddy"? Then look no further than Extreme G 2. It features amazing
track visuals, a huge array of cool weapons, lots of different cycles to
choose from, cool codes that you earn in the game, secret cars, tons of
tracks, a cool destruction mode, and a really fun multiplayer. Sound good? It is.
Graphics 7.5 out of 10
The graphics on Extreme G 2 are really good, with cool lighting effects
and use of lots of different colors. On some tracks, there are strobe lights,
statues, ect. The backgrounds to the tracks are amazing too, with buildings,
pyramids, realistic looking trees, all sorts of stuff. Some people say that
the framerates are really low, but I feel that they are fine and the game rocks.
Music and Sound 7 out of 10
Once again, Extreme G 2 delivers in this category. It has cool, upbeat
music that fits the extremely fast and furious racing perfectly. The only
bad thing about the music is that you will be too absorbed in the game to
really hear it. Darn.
Game Challenge 7 out of 10
This game is challenging without being too hard. (A very good thing for
video games). At first, it will seem overly easy, but when you are trying
to earn a certain thing by beating the meltdown difficulty, you will see
why I say that it does indeed offer its share of challenge. The good thing
about it is that there are rewards for completing the challenges, so you
will keep trying, and your persistence will likely be rewarded.
Game Play-Fun 8 out of 10
As with the original Extreme G, once you are in the groove, you can't stop.
This game has good handling, so you can make those hairpin turns even at
1000 miles an hour. With the 2 player grand prix mode, the fun is turned
up even more, and the game still plays great. There is no feeling like
shooting your best friend in the back with a particle missile while
racing down a track at blinding speeds. The only drawback to the entire
game is that it is easy to get turned around, but you soon learn to avoid
this problem.
Rumble Pak 8.5 out of 10
As with most games, the rumble pack adds even more fun and excitement,
and it works well with Extreme G 2.
Frustration
Thankfully, the frustration level is fairly low. Even when trying to get the
harder things in the game, you aren't too mad if you don't earn it because
you are having fun the whole time.
Replayability 7 out of 10
The replay value is also very good, because you can always improve your
score in the destruction mode, and there are many things to earn in the
game, including codes and secret cars.
Game Value 8 out of 10
Extreme G 2 is worth every penny, and you will find yourself playing it
hour after hour, even by yourself. This is one game that you won't soon
get bored of.
Overall 7.5 out of 10
Overall, I recommend this game to anyone who likes video games, and too
the racing fan it is nirvana. One taste of the speed, thrill, and fun of this
game and you will be hooked. Take my word for it.
