Donkey Kong 64
Reviewed by Kyle Bottorff
The game has great cinema scenes, great story, characters,
levels, game play, ext... and great graphics to boot. If you are
looking for a long hard game, then get this one! Even though
the camera may get a little fussy sometimes this game is a
great buy for any Nintendo 64 owner.
Graphics 9.5 out of 10
The 2nd best graphics for an Nintendo 64 game I've ever seen and played.
(First is Turok 2 which sucks but the graphics are mind blowing)
The expansion pack doesn't really boost up the graphics as much
as everything else in the game, but it does help. If you haven't
seen the game yet just think Banjo-Kazooie.
Music and Sound 9.0 out of 10
The music is very similar to the Donkey Kong Country for Super NES,
with better sounds. There are lots of sound effects, and once in a
while the Kong's say something. For example: "Oh! Banana!" as
Kong says when you gain access to a banana.
Game Challenge 10 out of 10
This is the biggest challenge for gaming EVER! There are 10
mammoth sized worlds that must be competed with each Kong!
The game is so long it takes an estimated 60 hours to complete
compared to the average 15-20 hours on most games. If you
are looking for a challenge your not going to have to buy a new
game for a long time.
Game Play-Fun 8.5 out of 10
The game is a lot of fun, but it is very long. It can get very
frustrating at sometimes by making you repeat almost the
same tasks again and again for 5 times. In Zelda you would stick
to a puzzle like glue to see the remarkable cut scenes while here
you would just leave after a few tries. After all, you just get a
piece of golden fruit.
Rumble Pak 9.0 out of 10
The rumble feature for this game works very very well. It really
kicks in when you are using Chunky's giant Kong move.
Frustration
There is a lot of this in the game. Having to complete the same
tasks over and over again for 5 times gets annoying you know.
Replayability 10 out of 10
There is so much to do in this game including secrets, banana
fairies, and multi player will keep you playing until you have bloody fingers!
Game Value 9.5 out of 10
It is very much worth the price. Heck for $60 the price of most of
the games you also get a FREE $30 expansion pack. If you like action
or adventure, or if you liked Zelda you'd be crazy to not get this game!
Control 8.5 out of 10
The control is good although it is a little too much at times. The
game takes full use of the expansion pack to fully get the
controls working fine.
Overall 9.5 out of 10
In conclusion this game is a must buy for a gamer that liked any of
Rare's previous games. There is a great addition to this game that
I can't even type up! Play the game for yourself! It at least deserves
a rent, when you rent it the pack comes with it too.
