Command and Conquer 64
Reviewed by Victor
Most of you have played or at least heard of Command and Conquer
for the PC. Well now Westwood Studios has brought it to the N64.
With the strategy and patience evolved in this game. It is bound
to be a hit with any person has enjoyed playing games such as
Starcraft and Age of Empires. With the dozens of missions this
game will take more than a week to beat (Unless you play it 24 hours
a day and you are an expert at strategic games).
Graphics 7.5 out of 10
Not with the expansion pak. This game has good graphics except
for the fact that the characters look a little blurry. At the
beginning of each mission they start with a little briefing with a
picture of a guy and you hearing his voice. Which they should of
made so his mouth was actually moving. At the end of each mission
they also show a little movie. The landscape has good detail with
the trees, water grass, and tiberium (a metal you harvest to earn
money). I personally haven' t seen the game with an expansion pak,
since I don't have one. So if you want the best graphics out of this
game you should buy and expansion pak.
Music and Sound 8 out of 10
Boom. Bang. Ahhhh. Those are the most common sound effects with
some other less common ones including, zzzaaaappp and ccccrrrunch.
Unlike some other games I've played I can hear what the people are
saying except when during the briefing when they purposely put in
interference like crackles so you might have to figure out the last
word in the sentence. "You must destroy ...". Which makes the
mission more challenging. The music at some times it is nice to
have some other times it is annoying. but the good thing is if you
like a particular track you can go to options and choose that one track.
Game Challenge 10 out of 10
This game is very challenging (at least to me). So far the longest
game so far took me an hour and a half and I have to admit I was
cheating with my Game Shark. :) I don't know how good some other
gamers are but personally it was hard for me. Their are two main
different type of missions. Missions where you get to build buildings
and your army to attack the enemy and missions were they might
give you one guy against 20 others.
Game Play-Fun 8.9 out of 10
For me it was mostly fun but the rest patience and frustration. I
mean, who doesn't disagree that blowing up buildings (in a video
game of course) is fun? I mean just send out ten tanks and blow
the living daylight out of everything that is just plain fun. So who
ever likes to have fun in video games try this game out.
Rumble Pak 5 out of 10
I personally didn't feel my rumble pak rumble that much. It rumbled
only during big explosions. Which do me seems pointless cause I
mean it's like. "Oh look that building exploded and my controller
rumbled Yipee!!" Which I don't know who would get that excited.
The only thing I see it is good for is if for some reason you had the
sound off and weren't looking in the area where a building exploded
the pak would shake so you would know to check out where the
explosion came from.
Frustration
I give it an 5 out of 10 which is bad cause I'm frustrated half the
time thinking you stupid troops couldn't go AROUND the tree and stuff
like that. So basically learn to be patient and calm before playing
this game. remember be one with the force.
Replayability 9 out of 10
"Mommy can I play it again please mom please I'll wash the dishes
walk the dog anything mom please" In other words good replay value.
So after you've finished the dozens of battles you would probably
want to play them again. The story has multiple paths so the game
should be sticking out from your Nintendo 64 for awhile.
Game Value 9 out of 10
Good game, Good sound, Good Challenge, Good Graphics, Good replay
Values what more good you ask for the winning lottery ticket to
come in the box. So basically it IS worth the price.
Overall 9 out of 10
This game is overall great except for a few little things. So all
you strategy game freaks go out and buy this game now or I will
report you to the commanding general. pretty much great everything
I think whoever is reading this right now should try it out for
themselves since you need to make up your own mind about this
game I personally think it has everything needed to make up a great
game so grab a few cokes a bag of chips and sit down and prepare
to be sucked into the Command and Conquer zone.
