Castlevania
Reviewed by Jesse Hughes
Castlevania has grown in many people. From the very first time
you played the game...a simple side-scroller on the NES. With one
thing in mind: destroy Dracula. Then you went on to part 2.
This game had more of an RPG format. Then it went on and on.
Totalling 3 Castlevania games for NES, 4 on Game Boy, 1 on
Super NES, and, finally, 1 on Nintendo 64. When I purchased
this game I did not think of it as much. I figured it would be
another 3-D game where you went off killing enemies,
progressing to get to Dracula. I thought there would be no
story or plot whatsoever. I found I was wrong.
Graphics 8.5 out of 10
The graphics are not the biggest part of the game but that doesn't
mean they are horrible. The graphics are rather stunning. You fight
tons of huge bosses that make it even better. There are also many
of detailed enemies throughout the game. The game also features
many video scenes for you to watch. There is nothing you cannot
understand...nothing is blurry whatsoever. The graphics are pretty
much fun and exciting.
Music and Sound 9.5 out of 10
The music is great. It's sets a perfect mood for the game. The music
is rather dramatic and horrific, which adds to the effect. The music
is so horrific that it sounds like you are in a movie. The only flaw is
that some (very little) of the music is repetitious, but that really is not
noticeable. The sound is just as great. Monster noises and bone crunches.
Game Challenge 9.7 out of 10
This game will keep you playing for hours and hours each day. The
challenge is tremendous. There is an easy, normal, and a secret hard mode.
There are many secrets to find throughout the game to keep you searching
for more challenge. Although the game has tons of challenge, do not think
it is hard. The challenge is perhaps the best & most fun part of the game.
Game Play-Fun 10 out of 10
This game is fun all over. Fighting vampires and werewolves is so
much fun you will reset the game just to see the video scene and to
fight the enemy again.
Frustration
The only frustrating part of the game is the way the camera views will
occasionally fall behind the boss or enemy that you are fighting. This
hardly ever happens, but when it does you cannot see the direction you
are facing to hurt the boss. It's only happen to me once or twice.
Replayability 9.8 out of 10
This game will keep you plying again and again. Mainly to find more
secrets and to finish the game as fast as possible. Either that or just
for heck of playing a great game.
Game Value 10 out of 10
This game is certainly worth the price. At first I thought I would not
be happy with the game but I now I think it was worth more than the
price. I have had it for very long and I still play it 24/7.
I think you will too.
