Bio F.R.E.A.K.S.
Reviewed by Adam Heuring
Bio Freaks is just like any other fighting game with a few added twists. You can
cut off peoples arms and still continue the fight You can also get killed in a fight
even if you don't lose all your power. You can also interact with the environment.
If you go in the lava, you'll get burnt and you'll lose power. Blades can cut off your
head or your arms too. One real cool added feature is the ability to fight in the air.
You can fly up in the air to another platform or you can fight in the air.
Graphics 9 out of 10
Superb graphics. That's what I say. The guys are completely 3-D. It isn't any cheap
2-D fighter. The environment is 3-D and you can move all around in it. When an arm
is chopped off, you can see all the bone and stuff inside. It's pretty cool.
Music and Sound 8 out of 10
There's a lot of neat sounds that the guys make. Some of them talk robotic and
others talk normal. Purge for example, he says "oh yah, cut da grass" in a robotic
way when he does his tawn mower move. Others like zipperhead say "Zipperhead
make you dead" in a caveman voice. But some like Sabotage throw a spear (you hear
it hit someone) and say "I lose more boyfriends that way. Overall the music is okay.
It's not the best but it doesn't annoy you.
Game Challenge 8.5 out of 10
You can choose from 4 different difficulties (novice, normal, expert, and freak). On
easy levels guys will just stand there and barely fight back. On harder levels the
guys are tough to beat unless you know all the good moves and combos. The challenge
of the game is pretty good but it just becomes no good after a while. The survival
mode is different. You go as many fights as you can with one life bar. 5 fights is
pretty far. But you don't get anything even if you went 10 fights. Believe me, I went
200 fights (I used a Game Shark) and I didn't get anything new.
Game Play-Fun 7.5 out of 10
The game is pretty fun. The neat part is chopping people into tiny little pieces. Another
fun part is the flying. you can shoot each other in the air or you can fly to another
platform and continue fighting. The lava and blades is petty neat. I like watching the
guys screaming while they're in the lava getting burnt.
Frustration
This game can really be frustrating at times. Guys are unbalanced. Some are a lot
stronger than others. The really frustrating thing is the fire button. Some guys fire
1 shot while others have machine guns. Also, Minatek has a rocket launcher on his
back so even if you take out his gun he still can kill you easy. The shield is also
frustrating. You don't have to hold anything and the shield will save you from
projectiles. Thank goodness it can run out.
Replayability 7 out of 10
This game will can keep you going for about a week unless you play against someone
else. There isn't a lot of guys and there isn't too many secrets. It doesn't take too long
too know the best moves for the guys. All the moves are even listed in the game when
you pause it. With Minatek, he has one simple move that can just about kill the other
person in one hit plus he can do it from the other side of the screen.
Game Value 8 out of 10
Well, you'd have to really like fighting games to buy this. It still is better than some
of the other fighting games out and the only other fighting game to come out soon is
Mortal Kombat 4. After that, there won't be many more fighting games for awhile.
It is worth it to buy it, but only for the vs. mode.
Overall 8 out of 10
I think the game is good but not excellent. It might satisfy the average gamer for
some time, but it just doesn't have any good replay value. If Midway had the chance
to change a couple things, they would have an excellent fighting game.
