1080* Snowboarding
Reviewed by Obekanobee@aol.com
Shredding the slopes, kicking up snow, exceeding speeds of 110 kilometers per
hour, this is 1080 for the Nintendo 64, the best game out for the 64 right now.
With 8 characters to chose from including the special characters and a numerous
amount of boards, including a penguin one where you ride down the mountain on a
penguins back, 1080 is a great game. Ten Eighty is a great game for people of all
ages and can be great fun if you learn how to play.
Graphics 9.5 out of 10
What can I say, the graphics are great, from each snowflake to the shadows of
the players. They are almost perfect. The snow is detailed just like the water
is detailed in Wave Race, the guys that made this game are great with graphics,
hands down to them.
Sound 9 out of 10
Sometimes the sounds can get annoying, but they are still very good, people grunt
and umph when they fall down or hit walls, you can here the impact of the snow
board hitting the snow when coming off a jump. Again they did a great job. From
the crowd cheering and the helicopter blades roaring.
Music 5 out of 10
The music isn't the best on this game and can get annoying. But do you really listen
to the music that much?? NO, you concentrate on beating your opponent to the finish
line. So don't look forward to the music wowing you that much. Some people may get
a kick out of it but I don't.
Difficulty 5 out of 10
This game is pretty easy to beat, for most people after you learn how to land a jump
they will beat the game within a week, others it will take quite a while. But you can
make the game more difficult by choosing the worst person probably Akari Yamagaci
or Ricky Winterborn, and then also choosing the worst board.
Game Play 9 out of 10
You race down the mountain going off mondo jumps pulling grabs and ten eighties
the game play is great. With a trick mode, half pipe, big air, contest mode, time
attack and 2P verse mode this game has lots of options. It does lose some game
play because of the lack of the 4 player mode. So the gameplay is very good.
Fun Factor 9 out of 10
This game is fun trying to get all the characters, courses and boards. You can try
to pull off every trick, and much more. With all the modes to play and the fact that
you can race against your friend this game is great fun.
Replay Value 5 out of 10
With only 6 course this game gets boring after you beat everything the only thing
that gives it any replay is the 2 player mode and the fact that you can choose from
all the characters to try and beat it again with worse players. So as you can see you
might end up selling this game after a month if your ignorant.
Frustrations
This game gets frustrating when some body can not do a trick, like on the half
pipe Rob Haywood isn't that good so whenever he goes up the half pipe he will
just sigh and won't do anything. It is also frustrating when you cannot land any
jumps, or you keep on hitting the walls. Although these things don't occur that
much you can still get frustrated with them.
Rumble Pak 10 out of 10
Using a rumble pak with this game is great when you get into rough snow or are
going down a cliff you can feel the rumble like your the snow boarder, when you
go on ice it rumbles and much more. I suggest that you try this game with a rumble
pak, it's great fun and adds to the excitement of the game.
Game Value 8 out of 10
This game is great fun when you first buy it and will seem defiantly worth $50
or what ever you payed for it but then the value goes down after you beat it
because of the low replay value. If only they would have made more tracks and a
four player mode. Maybe they will catch on with Twisted Edge Snowboarding,
hopefully. So as you can see I suggest renting the game first and seeing if you
like it a lot then buy it, maybe used or something so that it is cheaper.
Overall 9 out of 10
Despite all its faults this is still a great game, most people will agree, some
may not. Although it may not be fun as going out and really snowboarding its
closer to home and probably a lot cheaper. So I suggest that if you haven't already
that you rent this game or buy it, but hey what do I know I'm just a review
writer. Well have fun with this one.
