Zelda 2: The Adventures of Link
Reviewed by Justin
The most anticipated sequel of all time, Zelda 2: The adventures of Link was
to many people very disappointing, however I thought it was excellent. Link
is sixteen now and Zelda has been put under a sleep spell. Your job is to
locate and collect keys that are in stone statues. The statues are located
in each of six palaces. this game is very complex and should be done carefully.
"A" button strikes with Links sword and "B" button jumps. Use select to cast spells.
Graphics 5 out of 10
The backgrounds are bland and Link looks like the 8th dwarf, however, the
overworld screen is not that bad. I think there was not a lot of time put
into graphics so gameplay could be perfected. All in all, while not enjoyable
the graphics are not horrible.
Music and Sound 3 out of 10
They took The Zelda theme and remixed it so it is just about enough to make
you want to hurl. The beats are to repetitive and the melodies are just plain
bad, my advice, play the game with no sound.
Game Challenge 10 out of 10
Here is where I pay my respects. The challenge on Zelda 2 is just about top
of the line. It took me 26 hours to beat it from start to finish. You will
frequently find yourself saying "where am I" or "what do I do next"? If
there ever was a game that required making a map or frequently checking
someone else's, this is that game, without one you will surely get lost.
Game Play-Fun 6 out of 10
Remember when you were playing the first Zelda? Every morning when you
got up you would rush to the NES and loose yourself in the wonderful
world of Hyrule, well don't expect that kind of enchantment in this game. See,
Zelda was an adventure game where you could explore for hours but Zelda 2 is
an RPG for more serious gamers. Also, the side scrolling gameplay is
very different.
Frustration
Boy, you really have to be in a good mood to play Zelda 2! Every time Link
gets hurt he makes the most annoying sound on earth. When you loose your
last life, Gannon laughs at you which makes you wanna slap yourself silly,
plus if you don't make maps or forget items you have to go all the way back.
Replayability 3 out of 10
Basically, once you beat this game you will need a nap! With The extra
frustration level of gameplay involved, beating it gives you this feeling
of greatness. I gave it a 3 for replayability because it is fun to do it
after 10 years.
Game Value 9 out of 10
It is defiantly worth the price because of al the time you will end up putting
into it. It is one of those games that once you stars playing it, you will have
to finish it. It goes for about $7 now so that is a bargain no matter what
skill level you are.
Good as the first? 0 out of 10
First of all, it is a well known fact that nothing can touch the original
Zelda and players should beware that this is not the sequel they are looking
for. It is almost like a whole different series because it is so different.
Overall 6 out of 10
In conclusion, I would say that how much a player will like this game depends
on that players level of skill. For example, a beginner or intermediate should
not even think about this game, but a player of good skill should consider
getting this game.
