The Legend of Zelda
Reviewed by Lee Honeycutt
Of all the games I have ever played The Legend of Zelda is my favorite.
It has the best storyline, and best playability I've ever seen. The Legend
of Zelda set the pace for future RPG's that would come over the next 10
years. The storyline was perfect, the midevil feel of an RPG was there,
and the characters...well, unforgettable.
Graphics 7 out of 10
For their time, The Legend of Zelda's graphics were top of the line.
Although they look horrible today compared to Mario 64 and even the
Future Zelda 64, they still don't take away from the fun in the game.
As a matter of fact, they add to it. Because The Legend of Zelda's
graphics were so simply drawn, it was easy to understand the story
and how to play it. Unlike Final Fantasy 3, The Legend of Zelda was
VERY user friendly.
Music and Sound 8 out of 10
Great music. The theme song developed in The Legend of Zelda is still
highly thought of even today and has been used in every Zelda game
since, even if it was changed a little bit every time. The dungeon music
gave the feeling of fright and made you feel as if you were actually in
Link's shoes.
Game Challenge 10 out of 10
The challenge in The Legend of Zelda is phenomenal. I have never in my
life seen a game so hard to beat, even Final Fantasy 3 or Dragon Warrior.
This game is so tough I am still working on it today, 9 years after I got it!!!!!!
It is, in fact, the main reason I feel I can't ever put my old NES in the
attic in a box. This game is GREAT! It never ends!!!
Game Play-Fun 9 out of 10
The fun in this game is great, even though because of the simple graphics
you tend to get stuck trying to find secrets, which leads to boredom. Even
so, when you are ahead of Ganon in the game, you enjoy every minute of it.
Game Value
Even though The Legend of Zelda sells now for a mer $15, I would
gladly pay up to $30 for it. It is the most perfect example of what an
RPG should be and everyone that knows anything about video games should
own it.
Characters 10 out of 10
Zelda, Link, Ganon, Navie, Moblin, Octorok...the list goes on forever.
Truly the characters in The Legend of Zelda can never be forgotten.
Overall 10 out of 10
Even though I have not yet beaten The Legend of Zelda, I still am very
close and know that this is going to be a great ending I will probably
watch over and over again until...well, who's knows.
