Graphics: The game has pretty bad graphics. There are some interesting
looking enemies, but usually they are rip-offs of various clichés and old
80s TV shows. The color scheme was horrible since most enemies consisted
of one or two bland colors. Surprisingly enough, this was the best feature
of this game.
Sound: The music was really bad. It was annoying and almost sounded like
it was composed on a Commodore 64. Okay, it wasn't as bad as that, but it
was close enough. The sound quality was very low; it sounded scratchy and
just poor. Even when there were sound effects in this game, they were very basic.
Gameplay: This game was a very bad boxing sim. The view was kind of like
Punch out, but was more in back of the character. You play as the champion
boxer of Earth and are supposed to box aliens (sounds dumb, doesn't it?).
Anyway, you can jab, punch, and high-punch with both your left and right
fists. You can also pivot around by pressing the pad in the direction you
want to go, and block by pressing down. However, the dynamics were way
off. Usually if I did a hit that would nail him in the jaw, it would miss.
Other times, I would think I'd miss him, yet it would count anyway. It
made the game very frustrating and just generally annoying. Definitely
the worst boxing game I've played.
Hardness factor: This game wasn't very hard, just average. You just have
to learn how the enemies react and play off of that. It's really not too
tough until you get really far in the game.
Overall: 2 out of 10. This game was very bad. It's hard to imagine that
people actually bought this game. It's even harder to believe that this
game is Power Punch 2, which must mean there was one before this
and this is an improvement on the first.
