Graphics: The graphics are pretty bad in Platoon. The color quality is too
basic, there really aren't any cool enemies in this game, and there isn't any
detail either. The whole thing looks sloppily put together.
Sound: The music in this game is really bad. I think they tried for adventurous
or patriotic, but they definitely missed their mark. The music and the quality
are just so bad it almost made me ill to listen to this. There really weren't
enough sound effects in this game either.
Gameplay: This game is a horrible sidescroller. You pretty much just have
to play it to experience how bad and boring it is, but I'll try to sum it up.
This whole game is about playing as a lone survivor after the enemy has
killed all of the rest of your platoon. Anyway, in this game, you are
supposed to go around a maze of forest killing enemies that get in your
way, dodging tripwire, and a few other assorted things. This game lacks
any depth. They could have improved the dynamics of the game so it felt
more like a complete game. It's boring and the controls make this game
pretty hard.
Hardness factor: This game was very hard. If you get hit once, you're dead.
Even though you have about 6 or 7 guys, the forest is so big in the first
level that almost all of your extra guys will be gone. The controls made
this game pretty hard, but it was basically the dynamics.
Overall: 2 out of 10. This game was pretty bad. They didn't get anything
right, not even something as simple as the color scheme. This was just
another game that they marketed because of the popularity of patriotism
during that time.
