Graphics: The graphics were pretty cruddy in this game. While there wasn't
a lot they could do, they should have added different playing fields and pieces.
They definitely should have updated the graphical quality while they were at it.
Sound: The music was on the verge of annoying. It was just distant and
repetitive and the longer you play the worse it gets. Sound effects were
uninspiring too, but I'm not surprised. Quality and tone was okay but still
below average.
Gameplay: A NES version of the classic board game Othello. In Othello, you
take control of either the black or white pieces. When you start out, there
are four pieces on the field, two that are white and two that are black.
What you are supposed to do is click anywhere adjacent to any of your
colored pieces in order to put down another one. Also, if there's a white
piece or two next to your black piece, you can put the black piece on the
far end of them and add them to your arsenal. This game is just kind of
boring but then again I thought the board game was pretty boring too.
Controls weren't really bad though.
Hardness factor: This game was kind of hard, but pretty average. The
game can go on forever though; it's basically just a luck of the draw
kind of thing. Sure, there's some skill in it, but most people just guess
where to put it.
Overall: 2.5 out of 10. While my review may be biased since I thought
the game was boring in board form, I still don't think many people find
this game interesting with the games that are out today. I don't think
I'd recommend this game to anyone, not even someone who liked the
board game since this 'port' is pretty bad.
