Nightshade

The name 'Nightshade' probably won't ring a bell to many Nintendo
players. Many may assume that if they haven't heard of it, it's obviously
unpopular, so it must really suck. Well, actually, I think it's a pretty
cool game, with action, strategy, and a character with a great personality
and an odd sense of humor.
Graphics 8 out of 10
Some of the graphics are unappealing, but most come out okay. There is
a great deal of detail in many areas, and the animation really gives life
to the characters. Overall, the programmers did a pretty nice job with
the graphics.
Music and Sound 6.5 out of 10
The sound effects are weak. For example, when you operate, for instance,
a gumball machine, you hear a high-pitched noise and an odd whirring
sound. The sound is really hard to explain, but happens often and really
doesn't match the situation. However, the music is pretty cool, so that
saves what would otherwise be a poor grade in this category.
Game Challenge 8 out of 10
There are many things to do, and some side areas that are just fun to
explore. You must constantly do good deeds to keep up your reputation
meter as a superhero, so even if it's funny, don't do anything stupid. For
example, at one point in the game, there is a painter on top of a tall
ladder painting a sign mounted on a store. You can take the ladder from
under him and just use it for your own purposes, just leaving the painter
holding onto the sign attached to the building, dangling. It's funny but
doesn't help you in the long run. Also, the fight sequences, all though not
perfect, are pretty well done.
Game Play-Fun 9.5 out of 10
This is one of the most innovative and fun games for the NES, period.
It's awesome! The ideas are very creative, and it'll take me forever to
explain 'em all...However, it lacks a save feature. It doesn't bother me
too much, but since the game is pretty long, it's the only boundary from
a 9.5 to a 10.
Overall 9.5 out of 10
If you can get your hands on it, BUY IT. Although very rare since I don't
know anybody else who owns it except myself (E-Mail me, Nightshade
owners!), but it's a neat game.
