The Mutant Virus

Hardness factor: 5.5 out of 10
Overall: 2.5 out of 10
Graphics: The graphics were definitely below normal. The overhead
view was a little limiting, and most of the viruses looked poor
(even for blobs) since the graphical quality was really low. The
color scheme was a little on the weird side too.
Sound: The music in this game is all but nonexistent. All you hear
is a clicking sound (which seemed to pause every time I moved over
a screen) and the sound effects are about the same. While it's hard
to rate for this game, the quality is also pretty low.
Gameplay: This game is an interesting overhead shooter. You move
around with the control pad, press A to move forward, and fire your
gun with the B button. In this game, you are supposed to clear a
whole area of viruses while making sure not to get yourself killed.
What made this game so interesting is that when you shoot the clump
of viruses on screen, it will either slowly spread through them
infecting most or all of them, or after a little bit it will be overtaken
by the viruses. So what you must do in the later case is shoot wildly
and move inside the virus since when a part is cured you can move
inside of it. Besides that though, the game is just really boring. Besides
obstacles and enemies that bounce around the screen, the game really
doesn't progress much. The controls are kind of hard to get used to.
Hardness factor: This game was a little bit harder than normal, but not
by tons. That's because once you move forward, it's very hard to stop.
Also, on the later levels you must go inside a clump of viruses to
continue shooting further, so sometimes they'll regroup and harm you.
Overall: 2.5 out of 10. While I really liked how you destroyed the viruses,
this game really wasn't fun enough for me to recommend. If you see this
for free, you might want to pick it up just to see what I was talking about.
