Graphics: I thought the graphics were really neat in this game. This
game is very creepy looking (at least for the NES) like by having skulls,
blood, pieces of body parts, and dead spiders. It's really weird playing a
game like this and it kind of makes you wonder why they made this game
and how it got Nintendo's approval (they are usually very picky about
stuff like this).
Sound: The music was also kind of creepy and some of the songs were
good. However, the music quality was kind of low, so it wasn't as good
as it could have been. I think this game would have been great if they
made it for the SNES.
Gameplay: A very weird sidescroller. In Monster Party, you play as a
kid with a bat that agreed to help a gargoyle regain control of another
world. In the game, there are a ton of weird and creepy things, like
hands sticking out of the ground, dogs with men's faces, headless men,
and so on. You can hit enemies with your bat, or hit projectiles back at
them. Also, you are supposed to find a key in the level that is usually
hidden. This game is just strange, like I've stated before. For example,
on the first level there are smiling blocks and normal stuff, and then
when you pass a certain place the smiling blocks look like they are in
pain and the whole level drips with blood and looks wicked and creepy.
I really enjoyed this game, but the controls and dynamics were a little
underdeveloped. Doesn't make it a bad game though.
Hardness factor: This game was pretty hard. Some enemies move really
fast and it's hard to get by them without getting killed.
Overall: 6 out of 10. I enjoyed playing this game, but I've always liked
this type of game. I recommend this to anyone who would like this type
of gameplay since it's actually a very nice game.
