Mike Tyson's Punch-Out
Reviewed by Mike S.
Hey, and welcome to my review of Mike Tyson's Punch-Out. Now, this is probably my
favorite NES Game. It has everything that makes a good boxing game. It may have
graphics that aren't so great, but hey, who cares? it still is a good game. The Super
NES version of Punch-Out is also good, but I Still like playing the classics. This
game has awesome characters also, people like King Hippo, and Glass Joe. And it
even has the man himself Iron Mike Tyson. It's probably not even the hardest game
you'll play, but it sure is fun, you gotta admit that it is fun. I Wish they would make
a remake of this for N64, they could use a better game in their rivalry with PSX,
wouldn't you like to see this classic remade?
Graphics 6 out of 10
The graphics on this game aren't exactly the best but that doesn't take away from
the fun of this game. Although, the graphics aren't so bad that you can't see good.
You can see the faces good and everything clearly, I Guess you can say that the
graphics are good for a Nintendo game. The part of the graphics that I really like is
the crowd, although they don't move during most of the match, when you win a fight
it looks cool. Pretty Much, They're just right for an NES game. The graphics could be better.
Music and Sound 6 out of 10
The sound on this game is good, but I Suppose it could be a bit louder. But at least
it's loud enough that you can hear it. I Also like the music before you fight everyone,
I especially like the music before you fight King Hippo, it's awesome.
Game Challenge 4 out of 10
Not all of the characters in the game are easy to beat, although most are, there are
some that are real hard to get past. Mike Tyson, Great Tiger. (To Name A Few.) At
times, it is challenging and at other times it's a real breeze to get past. The game
starts to get real challenging after King Hippo. (Although he's not easy to beat either.)
I never beat the game though, but i try every time I get to play it. Some of the easier
guy's in the game are Glass Joe, Von Kaiser. (Just to name a few more.) Basically, I
Guess you could say this game has it's hard spots, and it's easy spots, just like every
other game.
Game Play-Fun 7 out of 10
This game is very fun to play, the only way it will get boring is if you play it
constantly. It got a bit boring for me after I played it for a while. But other
than that it's really fun. I Like reading the boxers quote's, records, etc... And the
great part is that all the boxers have they're own style, like they have their own
finishers, and the best part is the it isn't realistic, like they do stuff you wouldn't
be able to do in real life. Example: Great Tiger, he shakes and then he disappears,
and appears in the middle of the ring, that only adds more fun to the game. Even
though the game is a bit hard, it still is fun.
Frustration
At Times, this game can get frustrating, like when you Knock the boxers to the canvas
and you think they're gone they get right back up. Or, that when you get hit a few times,
you turn pink and can't throw a punch. Example: Once again I'll use Great Tiger, he
keep's spinning around and it's very difficult to even get a punch in. Basically, when
it's not frustrating it's fun to play.
Replayability 10 out of 10
For this category, I'll use a quote from the Lay's potato chip commercial. They say
"betcha can't eat just one." well I say "Betcha can't play just once." Once you play
this game you'll wanna come back and play it again. It can get addictive. Because
after you beat it you'll wanna come back and beat it again, and again, again, etc.. If
you hate some of the boxer's what will you do? You'd probably wanna come back and
beat them again. Overall, this game got a 10 out of 10 because it's fun to keep playing.
Game Value 10 out of 10
Yes, It is worth the price anymore. Because if you can find Nintendo games anymore,
they're usually in the 5-10 dollar range. So I Defiantly think it's worth the price for
such a good game. Not much to say here, trust me, it's worth the purchase.
Overall 8 out of 10
