Micro Machines

Graphics: 10
Surprisingly enough, some of the most detailed and best looking graphics
to ever grace the NES were from an unlicensed company. The amount of
detail here is awesome-- when you're racing on school desktops there is
actually stuff written on and in the books and many school-type objects
are scattered around. Just about every track is jam-packed with detail
like that. Amazing.
Sound: 7.5
The sound in Micro Machines is pretty weak- the music in between levels
is good, but while you're racing its only engine noises. It's not that the
sound is all that bad, but after a while you will be submerged in this
game and you won't even notice the sound.
Play Control: 9
The play control in MM is tight and responsive. Sometimes you will find
it hard to do stuff like squeeze between two pencil sharpeners or make
a sharp turn to stay on a pool table, but overall the play control is very
well executed.
Fun Factor: 10
This game is an absolute blast. You will have so much fun here that you
may never touch another NES cart again...(just kidding). Just trust me
on this: this may be the most fun you can have on your NES. What could be
more fun than driving small cars, jeeps, boats, helicopters, formula racers,
buggies, and monster trucks throughout scenes of everyday life?
Challenge: 8.5
This is defiantly not the hardest game you'll ever play, but the last
tracks can get EXTREMELY tough. Although the early tracks are a breeze,
they really build you up for the hard ones. And trust me, there are a lot
of tracks to race through.
Replay Value: 9
This is one of those games where you keep coming back for more.
Unfortunately, the two player mode isn't that good, but since the 1
player mode is so great, you keep coming back to play. With 9 different
vehicles, 32 tracks, and 11 characters, there is a lot of racing to do!
Overall Score: 9.5
I think that this is my favorite NES game of all time. Every time I pop
this in I always end up having a great time. Just look at the individual
scores; do me a favor and get this game next time you see it.
