Kirby's Adventure
Reviewed by Terri Mesarosh
Throughout many years of buying, selling, and trading new and used NES games,
I have found many great games. Kirby's Adventure comes to mind when I think of
the best Nintendo game because of the fun secrets and the cute pink marshmallow.
Kirby's Adventure is an original in the NES world because of the many levels of play
and because you can save your game. The variety of enemies and powers make you use
logic to beat the game. Also, the bonus levels are great.
Graphics 9 out of 10
The graphics are great but, in the second final boss, I think they could be improved.
Overall, they are crisp, clear, and well animated. The backgrounds are well detailed.
The character and enemies are colorful and easy to see. Also, you can distinguish each
enemy real fast (great for quickly obtaining a power).
Music and Sound 10 out of 10
The music and sound effects are the best Nintendo sounds I've heard. Some NES
games have music that gets annoying over time. On the other hand, Kirby's tunes
are really catchy. Kirby's Adventure has different music for almost every level. If
you beat the Extra game, you can see just how many sound effects there really are.
Clearly, a lot work went into creating the music and it was a job well done.
Game Challenge B+
The way I rated the challenge of Kirby was by if it is too hard or too easy, A+ being
perfect. It got a B+ because it is a little on the easy side. At the end of all your lives
you can continue your game and keep continuing your game until you win. Although
some secrets are hard to figure out, most are easy. Kirby's creators did try to make
it hard by having three hard bosses at the final end.
Frustration
For most game players I think that the frustration level would be low. I found that
certain bosses were frustrating because I couldn't figure out which power to use.
I think that most levels were kept at a low stress level and fairly easy.
Replayability 10 out of 10
Ever since I rented Kirby's Adventure, I wanted to rent it again. After renting it
a couple times, and finally finding it in stores, I bought it. Although I've beat it
many, many times it keeps me coming ] back because it is so fun to play.
Overall 10 out of 10
Everything is great and best of all, my copy of Kirby isn't going to end up in an
used game store ever. I really love Kirby's Adventure and am so glad that he is
going to be featured in yet another game made for Nintendo 64.
