Overall: 4 out of 10
Graphics: The graphics were pretty good. They tried to put a lot of detail
into this game, but you really can't do that with the NES. So, all the
graphics just looked scrunched together. The color scheme is nice at
least, even if the quality isn't that good.
Sound: The music wasn't the best ever, but it fit the theme of this game
very well. It's sort of dark and moody which I ended up liking. However,
the quality isn't exactly the best and all the sound effects get annoying.
Gameplay: An isometric platform game. In The Immortal, you play as
an old man in a dungeon who must find a great magician. Anyway, you
can pick up items and use them wherever you want and you can also
shoot fireballs to do different things like hit switches. There are a ton
of different items in this game you can get, which adds a lot to this game.
However, the part that takes up most of the game is battles, and that is
the worst part of the game. It's sort of goes into a mode that's like a lot
of boxing games. You press one button to dodge and you hit with the other.
Hardness factor: The thing I hated most about this game (besides the
battles that is) is that on the map, one hit and you're dead. Also, there
are hidden pits and enemies, which really make this game tough.
Overall: 4 out of 10. This game was okay, but it had a lot of elements
in it they should have changed. I don't recommend playing it or the SNES version.
