Overall: 6.5 out of 10
Graphics: The game had pretty neat graphics (though not nearly as good
as the arcade port). The characters are really cool looking and even
though the color scheme is really off, there's a lot of detail in some of
the enemies. The graphics aren't really original though or else I would
have given it a higher score.
Sound: The music is also pretty neat. The songs are all original and the
music quality on all of them above normal. Sound effects are also
pretty authentic and there are enough of them in the game.
Gameplay: A really cool game along the lines of Commando. It's in the
same overhead view and you make your way to the top of a level to destroy
a boss. One hit and your dead is what makes this game hard, but there are
a ton of powerups lying around to give your weapon that extra boost it
needs. Also, unlike Commando, you can pilot a tank that shoots faster
and can take quite a few hits (just be sure to get out of it before it
explodes). Bosses are really original in this game and usually call upon
enemies of the level to help them take you down. Luckily, the controls
are pretty good (once again, not as good as the arcade version).
Hardness factor: This game can get pretty hard, especially if you have a
powerup that just won't cut it for the level. You can't shoot at some angles
too, which is extremely annoying after the second level.
Overall: 6.5 out of 10. I liked this game quite a bit. If you've ever played
this in the arcade and liked it, you'll probably like this port. Anyway, you
really can't go wrong with this game so I'd recommend it to those who are
bored and appreciate what the NES has to offer.
