Overall: 5 out of 10
Graphics: The graphics in comparison to most NES games is very
average. The color scheme is a little weak, but there's a sufficient
amount of detail in enemies, characters, and just a bit in backgrounds.
While the character design of enemies isn't original (snakes, skeletons,
spiders), there is a lot of detail.
Sound: The game had sufficient sound quality and even some of the music
was cool. There weren't a ton of sound effects in this game, but it
wasn't all that bad.
Gameplay: Dungeon Master is a First-Person Perspective Adventure game.
That means it's in your view and you walk around interaction (kind of)
with enemies, characters, and the backgrounds. You have to control which
way to walk and when to hit, things like that. Anyway, Dungeon Master
is a pretty basic FPPA. You buy weapons and items that give you health
in stores, walk around outside and in dungeons, get experience points by
killing enemies, and talk to people. It really isn't that fun and there is a
problem where you only see enemies that are one step ahead of you,
which gets annoying.
Hardness factor: This game was pretty hard, but most FPPAs are. It's
just hard to level up and enemies sneak up on you way too often. Since
you don't have a map, large dungeons are incredibly easy to get lost in.
Also, the game is too jerky.
Overall: 5 out of 10. This game wasn't anything special. If you enjoyed
playing the old Wizardry games, you might want to check this game out.
Otherwise, don't bother.
