Crystalis
Reviewed by Mike Schiciano
From SNK, the creators of the King of Fighters Series....
After an unavoidable disaster that destroys humanity, YOU are summoned to destroy
the evil that invaded the planet and bring peace to the earth. During your quest,
you'll meet many unusual creatures, some good, some evil. You'll learn a wide
arrangement of spells to do things such as contact several important people, heal
yourself, or change your form! After obtaining all four swords: Wind, Fire, Water,
and Lighting, you'll be able to receive the Crystalis sword and be able to vanquish
evil once and for all! This is a wonderful RPG/Adventure game that will keep you
playing for hours on-end.
Graphics 8 out of 10
For a Nintendo game, this is really good in the basis of graphics. It's graphics really
bring out the enviorment with the layout of the colors. There are some slight flaws,
such as some "blinking" characters, or slower frame rate, but that all gets centered
by it's wonderful look.
Music and Sound 9 out of 10
The music in this game really sets the mood, as simple as it is. It has a catchy beat
to it as well. As for the sound, many of the sounds are appropriate for the actions
they represent. It a very pleasant sounding game overall.
Game Challenge 10 out of 10
This is NOT a game you can speed through in one day, or one week for that matter.
You'll be challenged in many ways, from a one-on-one sword duel to several caves
and mental challenges. I can honestly say that this is a long, challenging game that
will make you get a large amount of playing time spent into this game.
Game Play-Fun 9 out of 10
Despite the challenge, this is one game you can't put down! The game is what many
RPGs great, you just can't stop playing this game until your eyes hurt from staring
at the screen too much!
Frustration
You will get frustrated from repeatedly trying to solve several puzzles or beating bosses
and failing over and over again, but you won't let that get in the way now, will you?
Replayability 5 out of 10
Unfortunately, there aren't any secrets to the game to my knowledge, so the only reason
you'd replay this game is to see how fast you can beat it.
Game Value 9 out of 10
I say if you are a fan of RPGs or Adventure games, buy it if you can find it! You'll won't
regret it, trust me. ^_^
Overall 9 out of 10
Overall, this is a game that makes the NES worth keeping(I still have mine). You can't
compare many other games to this great example of what the NES could REALLY do. But
if you aren't a fan for this type of game, then I'd vote against buying this game immediately.
You should be pleased, none the less. Simply put, GREAT GAME!
