Burger Time
Reviewed by Charles White
This is the NES version of the arcade game no one liked. Its BURGER
TIME! Simple game where you are a fat chef who is running from killer
eggs and hotdogs while putting hamburgers together.
Graphics: C+
The graphics totally suck. They look nothing like the arcade. But
remember this is one of the very first games to come out on NES, it
may the 6th game to. The structure of the hamburger battle dome arena
thing is made out of blue lines. Blue lines for the ladders and hamburger
holders. The sprites are tiny funny looking things, I like how the killer
hotdogs walk, their heads flop around from left to right and the killer
eggs are very stupid looking.
Music and Sound: F
Ha ha, the music is nothing but annoying beeps and bops. The sound is um,..
very early Nintendo sound. Just pings and beeps but the falling hamburgers
make a strange trampoline noise.
Game Challenge: A
While the graphics are stinky this is one of most challenging games
ever made. Its ten times harder than most N64 games out now. What
you do is you run for your life from killer food trying to make hamburgers
in this strange structure. Its like there are 4 or 5 floors stacked on each
other and on each floor has the part of a hamburger, you have to run over
that part to make it drop to the next floor, then you have to go below to
the next floor and run over that part of the burger that has landed on another
piece until they all drop to a bottom tray and complete the hamburger (looks
nothing like a hamburger at all). While doing this the deadly food is relentlessly
chasing you one behind the other. They split up and trap you or corner you,
they are really annoying. You can get salt and pepper shakers as weapons
but they just make the food go asleep for 1 second. The second level has
you making hotdogs in a different structure and I don't know anyone who
has made it to level 3.
Frustration
OOHH MAN! Those killer eggs are the worst, they are the smartest of the
bunch and have everything covered before you make your move. And level 2
is very hard, I've been to level 3 once and its impossible.
Replayability: D
Its one of those games you'll want to take out every now and then for
nostalgic reasons. Every time I play it and I get stuck and yell AAAHH
and turn it off.
Game Value
This game is very hard to find, its like trying to find Maniac Mansion or
the pretty much unknown Chiller. If you found it at a mom and pop video
store that is selling all their old Nintendo games it would be around 5 or
2 bucks. I would say do not give over 2 bucks for this game.
