Graphics: The graphics are done really well for this game. They are
just a step down from the poorest SNES graphics. There's usually a
very nice dark color scheme, there are cool effects in some levels,
and there is even quite a bit of detail.
Sound: The music is pretty good. While it's sort of weak for a NES game,
the songs are pretty good. They help to set the mood really well. What I
really liked about the sound in this game though, were the sound effects.
They were just done well.
Gameplay: A sidescroller where you play as Batman. This game is pretty
simple because all you do is kill enemies, jump on platforms, dodge traps,
and also collect powerups that strengthen your only weapon. There are a
few different powerups, but still you only have that one gun, so the gameplay
gets a little weak. They definitely could have made Batman respond to the
controls a little better, but overall the game has a nice amount of gameplay.
Hardness factor: I thought this game was pretty hard. One problem is
that you don't start with much life, but mix that with the unresponsive
controls and hiding enemies, and you've got a dangerous combination.
Overall: 6.5 out of 10. I liked this game since it's more fun than a lot of
the sidescrollers out there for the NES. I also liked how it didn't play
like a movie. You'll probably see what I'm talking about after playing
this game.
