8 Eye's

Reviewed by X-Phile99 8 Eyes is an adventure game for either 1 or 2 players. The game is much easier (and in my opinion, much more fun) with 2 players. In the game, player 1 controls a man named Orin who is out to collect several sacred jewels. Player 2 controls his trusty hawk (yes, a bird) named Cutrus. There are 8 stages in the game, which can be done in any order. Much like the Mega Man series, there is a particular order that makes the game much easier. The games offers passwords to save your progress.

Graphics 7 out of 10

As regular NES goes, there are slightly above average. The games is VERY reminiscent of Castlevania type graphics. Each stage takes place in a castle with multiple levels.

Music and Sound 8 out of 10

It's your typical NES music, but it tends to be spooky and reminiscent of your typical "dark castle music". Each castle is located in a different country, and the background music represents the stereotypical music of that country (ex. Spain has festive music, Africa uses drums, etc.) The music is done very well though.

Game Challenge 9 out of 10

If you do the castles out of the proper order, the bosses can be very difficult. The best part about 8 Eyes is that once you finish it, you need to go back and play the whole thing through 2 more times to see the best ending. Each time gets much more difficult than the last.

Game Play-Fun 8 out of 10

I think this game is a lot of fun, particularly in the 2-player mode. It can be quite difficult in the 1 player mode, but as multiple player games go, this is one of the best out there.

Frustration

Not so much a factor, although as mentioned, it is very tough to play alone. You have to control both the man and the hawk, which can be darn near impossible at times.

Replayability 10 out of 10

Hey, you've got to play it through 3 times just to see the best ending. You can also do the castles out of order to add to the challenge. What more can you ask for in terms of replayability??

Overall 8 out of 10
