The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
Reviewed by Devin Estes
Nintendo's fantasy adventure hero, Link of Hyrule, returns in this new epic
quest...Link's Awakening. Link's newest challenge is set on the mysterious Koholint
Island, a place where dreams and reality collide. As a castaway, Link must find a
way to escape from the island and return to his beloved homeland of Hyrule.
But it won't be as easy as chartering a boat. The island's inhabitants have no knowledge
of the outside world. One creature, a talking owl, may know the solution to Link's
dilemma, but first Link must tackle eight dungeons full of treacherous monsters and
tricky traps. His goal: find the eight Instruments of the Sirens and awaken the
omnipotent Wind Fish which rules the island.
Graphics 9 out of 10
The graphics aren't as good as Wario Land 2, but they are crisp and clear and you
don't find yourself adjusting the contrast or finding it hard to see items. All in all I
think they did a GOOD job.
Music and Sound 10 out of 10
The music and sound are the best I have ever heard on Game Boy. From the sound of
your sword swooshing through the wind to the sound of waves, and from calm town
music to exciting, adventurous music.
Game Challenge 10 out of 10
Seriously, it is the most challenging game I have ever played on Game Boy and it
is not one of those games that, in a couple of seconds, you know what to do. It's
the kind of game that, if you get stuck, you have to take time at figuring it out or
even have to talk to other people that have successfully completed the game.
Game Play-Fun 8 out of 10
Is grabbing onto a rooster's legs and flying around fun? YEP! Is blowing up
enemies with bombs, a boomerang, and a sword that shoots fun? YEP!! But I think
the most fun and best part of the game is defeating the Nightmares and getting
the Instruments of the Sirens.
Frustration
This game can get really frustrating if you get stuck and there is no one to help you
and you want to play.
Replayability 8 out of 10
You could play this game about five times in a row and then get bored of it. But, if
you put it away for a month and then played it again you WOULD NOT BE BORED OF IT!!!
Game Value 100 out of 100
Is it worth the price? I bet my life on it that it is. I got it for about $36.96
(Canadian) with tax and I think it is worth at least $47.00.
Overall 10 out of 10
So why should you get this game? Oh... because it is the best game I have ever
purchased and, for another reason, Zelda: Link's Awakening never comes out of my
Game Boy. Just get the game, no questions asked!
