Kung-Fu Master

Sound: 5.5 out of 10
Gameplay: 6 out of 10
Hardness factor: 7 out of 10
Overall: 5.5 out of 10
Graphics: The graphics are just a little bit too weak. The whole ninja
theme is definitely overdone, and the enemies and bosses are so generic
(a fat guy who throws things, a buff guy with a whip, and a lean,
muscular guy with a whip among others). The animation is a little
weak too, but about normal for a Gameboy game.
Sound: The sound is okay, I actually enjoyed one or two of the songs
in the game. Unfortunately, levels are very small and there's a boss
after every level. What I'm getting at is that the boss music is horrible
and just a few notes played over and over again. Sound effects are a little
too generic and there aren't enough of them.
Gameplay: This game was actually pretty fun, but extremely short. I beat
the regular mode within 10 or 15 minutes. Anyway, this game is like a
sidescroller-beat 'em up. You can't move up or down, and most enemies
only take one hit, but you can kick, punch, flip-kick, and jump. Basically,
you play as a martial arts master and make your way through a level of
regenerating enemies and then a boss. Luckily, the controls are pretty
nice (except the flip-kick which you'll never use anyway) so you don't
have to worry about messing up.
Hardness factor: This game is very hard on the hard setting, but it's
just hard on the normal setting. The levels are easy and take very little
skill (usually you shouldn't even get hit once) but some of the bosses are
just a pain (like the ones with weapons).
Overall: 4 out of 10. This game is just too normal for a sidescroller. It
does get boring about 10 minutes into the game, so there is no way I'd
recommend this game (as if anyone would really think about buying it).
