Kirby's Dream Land
Reviewed by Charlie Decker
Kirby's Dream Land is a fun, cartoonish game to play. But it has a major fault: The
inability to save your progress. The game is relatively short, so the inability to save
games is not the world's biggest disaster. But it can be frustrating at times,
especially when you have to quit at the final boss..
Graphics 8 out of 10
Kirby's Dream Land is a pretty game. The worlds and characters are smooth and
textured. But beware: if cute things make you queasy, this is not the game for you!!!
The cute bad guys pop out of the cute environments and try to get the cute hero. It
gives the whole game a little cartoon feeling. Oh, isn't it cute?!
Music and Sound 6.5 out of 10
The music in Kirby's Dream Land is catchy, it can get stuck in your head. But, like
most of the game, it sounds cute, with all the high notes. The sound affects, however,
are mostly the same, either a ding or a puff or something of that nature. All of them
are different pitches and a few different lengths, but are essentially the same thing.
It gets old after a while, just hearing "ding" and "poof".
Game Challenge 2 out of 10
This game is fairly easy. There are a few hard parts, but mainly you just have to
suck 'n' spit. It gradually gets harder through the five levels. The final boss is actually
pretty challenging. But it is not frustrating. But once you have beaten the game, you will
know how to do everything, and (if you have the time), keep beating it.
Game Play-Fun 6 out of 10
It is fun to go through cute wood, castle, and other levels, suck up the cute bad guys,
and spit them onto other cute bad guys. But it quickly gets repetitive. The bad guys
are always in the same place, and doing the same thing. The routes are the same, no
secret routes or anything of the sort. After a while, it just gets pretty boring. But if
you like straight forward gaming, this is a fun game.
Overall 6.5 out of 10
Kirby's Dream Land is a pretty game, that is extremely cute, straight forward, and
easy. The music is good and catchy. Little kids should love this game. But the sound
affects and game play get repetitive. And you cannot save your progress, so it could
take a while to completely finish the game. Many older gamers will be frustrated. But
I think if you don't need your games complex, Kirby's Dream Land should be checked out.
