Kirby's Dream Land 2
Reviewed by Sean Burns
Anyone who owns a Game Boy has probably played a Kirby game. We
all just love that cute little marshmallow! I remember when I first
played Kirby's Dream Land. Ahhh.... now THAT is a fun game. So when
I popped in my shiny, new, Kirby 2 cartridge I didn't think it could
get much better than the original. Oh boy was I wrong!
Graphics 10 out of 10
The graphics in Kirby's Dreamland 2 are sharp, and tight. Kirby moves
without any lag. The backgrounds are nicely rendered, and even the
enemies move smoothly. There are lots of nifty little details thrown
in, so you have plenty to look for. The graphics are simple, but there
is a flare to them that just screams "Hey! Look at me buddy!"
Music and Sound 6 out of 10
The music can get a little irritating. (except for the final boss theme.
There is a lot of variation though, some you don't pull at your hair in
hearing the same little tune over, and over again.... The sound effects
on the other hand are really nicely done. Everyone loves the sound of
our little pink hero downing a bad-guy with a single gulp! All it needs
is an option to turn off the music... oh well! Who said life was a rose garden?
Game Challenge 9 out of 10
Believe it or not, Kirby actually gets quite difficult as you proceed.
Finding all the rainbow drop is a tedious chore at times. But, you a
greatly rewarded with a kicking sword at the end of the game. You'll
have to figure the rest out for your self! Later in the game, you will
have to use your animal buddies (Rick the hamster, Coo the owl, and
Kine the fish) to solve puzzles. You'll need to have the right power-up,
and animal to get past certain parts of game.
Game Play-Fun 10 out of 10
This game is just so much fun to play! With my new Game Boy Color
life is a dream as I watch my cute, pink buddies swallow enemies in
full color. This game is great for trips! You can play it over and over,
I'm still not tired of it! This one heck of a game!
Frustration
The only time the game gets frustrating is with some of the bosses.
Especially the final one. It took me at least 3 or 4 hours to beat it!
(The boss, not the game! :) You don't have to worry about falling off cliffs,
since you can fly. So it isn't a real frustrating game overall!
Replayability 8 out of 10
Heck, I've beaten this thing about 5 times and I'm still not tired of it!
You can actually make little games using your imagination using some
of the power ups. Frozen-baddie-soccer anyone? It would not probably
get that joke until you find the ice power-up later in the game!
Game Value 10 out of 10
This is a must for any Kirby fan! Since Nintendo has re-released it, its
only about $10-$20 bucks at the most. If you see thing this game, buy it!
Buy it my friend!
Overall 9 out of 10
Words just don't do justice to this awesome game. You got to play it to
give it full justice. This is a true "Miyamoto Masterpiece!" Maybe we'll
even see a sequel! Kirby Dream Land 3 Color, anyone?
