Final Fantasy Legend
Reviewed by Jim
Final Fantasy Legend is one of the coolest Game Boy games I have played.
There are SOME flaws with it, but not nearly as many as you would think.
RPG's are, by nature, flawed, because it is impossible to make a lengthy
game completely perfect. But Final Fantasy Legends comes close.
Graphics 4 out of 5
Final Fantasy Legend quality, but the monster battle pictures are pretty
decent. It looks like quite a lot of time went into designing the portraits.
Music and Sound 5 out of 5
This is my favorite part of the game!!! The music is simply the best, but
because of the Game Boys small speakers, you really can't experience the
sound the way it should be. Try plugging a pair of headphones in to get
the full effect.
Game Challenge 4 out of 5
I gave Final Fantasy Legend a 4 in this category because sometimes the
battles are TOO difficult. Near the end, you have five super-strong guys
attacking your hero while your other 3 people are dead and you can't get back
to a town. This is obviously a bit annoying. I wish the game were a bit easier
and the Creator a little easier to kill.
Game Play-Fun 5 out of 5
This is the kind of game that I play more than once. It's different every
time, and there are times when you're not sure whether you're going to
survive. That is the suspense that makes a game good. This game has all of it.
Frustration
Although most of the game is "kill the bad guys and save the good guys,"
some parts of the game have puzzles. I would estimate at least 20-25 puzzles
in the game (not including non-required puzzles). Sometimes you find yourself
stuck in one spot and walking around in circles. Just think logically. It also
helps if you write down some of the more important conversations. Don't write
down the convos with what I call the "Wandering Idiots," the people who walk
around in a town and say the same thing over and over. Write the convos that
matter. This will help you solve some puzzles. Also, acquiring the N. Bomb
is a must...
Game Value 3 out of 5
The game is worth playing, however, the ending, in my opinion, is not worth
the $25 I paid for the game. The ending is perhaps the worst (aside from Who
Framed Roger Rabbit for the NES) that I have ever seen. The details in the game
make up for most of the ending though. If you're one of the people who buy
games for the ending, this is definitely not worth it, but if you like a good game,
Final Fantasy Legend is for you.
