Final Fantasy Legend 3
Reviewed by Chris Halvorson
Final Fantasy Legend 3 is the most recent of an outstanding series of games for the
Game Boy. Sadly enough, it was made about 5 or 6 years ago, and it is still the most
recent. It was among the first games to have a free-equip system- which allowed
you to equip anything on anyone in your party. This game did not have as much of a
free game as it's predecessor, Final Fantasy Legend 2, much less Final Fantasy
Legend 1. However, it is still an outstanding game. In this RPG, you are in control
of 4 children that were sent back in time from the future to save the world from
invading monsters, commanded by a large brain-looking thing called Xagor.
Graphics 3 out of 5
It is hard to tell whether the graphics on this game are good or bad. It is much like
other Game Boy games where graphics are concerned- they aren't good, but they look
sharp, because the screen is small. Unless you're using a Super Game Boy, this game
will look sharp, like most other Game Boy games.
Music and Sound 4.5 out of 5
This game, like all of it's brethren spread all over the console kingdom, has the
best music and sound for it's system. Square, once again, has bowled gamers over
with outstanding music and sound. It was about time a Game Boy game had decent music!
Game Challenge 3.7 out of 5
Challenge for most RPG's are hard to define. This one is no exception. It takes time
and usually some effort to get past certain areas in the game. Many a time have I
gotten stuck in a place where I'm too low a level to pass. I have to go out, kill some
monsters, and go back in.
Game Play-Fun 4.3 out of 5
This game is fun to beat over and over again. It offers the most fun and humor I have
seen yet in Game Boy games. If you're on a road trip or just looking for a fun way to
pass the time, this is the perfect game to play in that situation.
Frustration
The only frustration is being too low on levels to pass an area.
Replayability 3 out of 5
Fun to play over & over, Final Fantasy Legend 3 is among my favorite games when it
comes to replayability. However fun to play over, it is still the same game every time.
This is the only major drawback to this game.
Game Value 4 out of 5
This is the most expensive Game Boy game I ever bought, and it was worth it. This game
is cheap now and an even better deal. Great game, great price, who could ask for more?
Plot 5 out of 5
This game has a plot that twines around and brings you straight into the game. The
world's about to flood, and 3 children are sent back in time. They are reared up by
the elder of a town to fight all monsters. Then they are joined by the elder's
granddaughter. Interesting things stir up about the plot. An example is when you first
leave the city. Dion and Faye, two children tell you that they will train themselves to
be just like you. Then, when you later travel to the future, lo and behold, they're both
strong warriors! The strange thing is, they would under normal circumstances be
older than you! Weird.
Overall 4.5 out of 5
Final Fantasy Legend 3 is a great game. Twisting plot, great fun, all mixed up with
humor and role-playing to make a fun game that is worth a lot! This game has to be
2nd or 1st in my favorite Game Boy game list.
